Warning: The following contains spoilers from a cliffhanger in Garrett.

Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief that has put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury, still crippled by emotional baggage, and now a single dad, he’s in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son’s heart, Zack isn’t sure he’s ready for a woman’s touch—even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she’s hiding under those baggy clothes.

Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete’s body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life—and besides, he’s her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack’s wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.

If you have been reading this hockey series then you will know a little about Zack, who this book is about.  He recently lost his long time girlfriend Gina in a car accident and is now the sole parent to his young son Ben.  He is guilt ridden not only for the car accident but the fact that he was never able to commit to Gina 100% by marrying her. He feels she died not knowing how much he truly cared about her. While he is wallowing away in his guilt, his sister steps in and takes charge and insists on him getting a Nanny and goes ahead and hires one for him.
Enter Kate.  I have to be honest if it wasn’t for Kate’s quick wit and humor I may not have enjoyed the book nearly as much as I did.  She is young and extremely smart for her age and seeing Zack is struggling with guilt has tons of patience with him. I loved her sense of humor and comebacks.
As you can guess an attraction grows between the two and they fall into bed together.  Zack is open with Kate and basically tells her its only sex and for a while Kate is ok with that.  Until feelings start to develop on her side.  Or is it just her that is starting to develop feelings?  Zack drove me a bit nuts with his failure to commit but Kate pretty much saved those moments for me either by understanding what he was going through or with tactful humor.  Thank God!  A large portion of the book is Zack not knowing where his head is at and feels tons of guilt.  I could have done without all that and had more funny moments but overall it didn’t ruin the book for me.
As you can guess Kate will either have to move on when feelings are not reciprocated or will Zack get his head in order….Its a cute story and a fast read…great for the beach!
