Synopsis
What happens when a single mom’s four-year-old daughter falls in love with Mr. Right and she doesn’t?
Maggie Tyson’s rule: no bad boys. Her incarcerated ex-husband broke her of that attraction. Needing to escape his threats and the scrutiny of the people in her hometown, Maggie relocates to New York City. Determined to not make the same mistakes, she has a mile-long list of dos and don’ts. Unfortunately, her daughter, Cecily, doesn’t like to follow them. When Cecily wanders away from her and right into Rick Stone’s office, Maggie knows he’s the exact type she’s been trying to avoid. Can she resist him or will she succumb to his willful charm?
Rick Stone’s rule: bed them don’t wed them. Running a multi-billion dollar business doesn’t leave him with much time to do anything else, particularly with an overbearing grandfather breathing down his neck. But when a man works hard, he needs to play even harder. Voted America’s most eligible bachelor, Rick doesn’t have any problems getting women into his bed—except one.
Two auburn beauties stumble into his life.
One will break his heart.
The other—heal it.
Will he love or leave them?

When I was giving the opportunity to review this book I immediately jumped on the chance to do so. First of the all the blurb grabbed my attention and I loved the cover. Even if I didn’t read the blurb I think the cover itself would have me one clicking this book. I hadn’t read a book by this author and I was excited to give it a try.
So let me first off by saying that I absolutely loved little Cece. Cece plays such a major role in the story and the little girl just grabbed a hold of my heart and never let go. In my opinion she truly helped make the story. Unlikely Allies is the story of Maggie, Cece’s mother, who hasn’t found the time or energy to look for love and Rick the CEO of a billion dollar business whose rule with women is “bed them don’t wed them”. Throughout the book you can tell when the feelings for one another develop and how Cece plays such a critical role in bringing these two lonely souls together. I loved how the story flowed and the development the characters had seem natural. There were times in the story were i felt it moved a bit slow however once the peak of the book happened it was time to put on a seat belt because it took off. Never once while reading this book did I feel that the storyline was unreal; I honestly enjoyed reading this book.
I love epilogues in a book and if you are a fan of epilogues you will be very happy with the epilogues (yes plural 🙂 ) in this book. Often times when I finish a book I’m always wondering what happens in the future and luckily in this book we find out. I highly recommend this story for another who wants a contemporary romance read.
