The prologue had me sobbing so I knew I was in for a tearjerker with this one. The title is perfectly fitting for this story because sometimes life can be so unbearably cruel and other times so incredibly beautiful. This book took me through an emotional ringer.

“I don’t want you to be here. I want you to remember me as I was, when I was healthy , during our best times. Now, look at the door and take your first steps into your new life Cate. And promise me you’ll live. Just live Cate. Do it for me.”

Cate has one goal in mind while she is at College, maintaining her grades so she can keep her scholarship. Her roommate who also just happens to be her best friend since kindergarten has other plans for Cate. So one night after she drags her to a party things start to change when Cate meets Drew. She may have had one to many drinks and their time together may be tough for her to recall, but by no means can Drew forget her.

“Are you trying to get me drunk, Drew McKnight? I’m trying to get you, Cate Forbes, by any means possible.”

As much as  Cate initially tries to resist Drew and all his charm she fails miserably, the two have this intense connection. It’s a beautiful thing to watch them fall in love and I fell right along with them. Cate has got to be one of my favorite heroines she is sweet and funny and just awesome. Drew is so amazing. I absolutely loved him, his love for Cate was beyond measure and oh so freaking beautiful.

“You have opened my heart and soul to a love I didn’t understand, but now that I do I never want to let it go.”

This story goes back and forth between past and present and with that came so many questions. I had this scenario in my head of what I thought was happening. Or maybe I should say what I really with all my heart wanted to happen, but the author gave nothing away. I will say  my heart broke  at certain points throughout this story. I ugly cried, I laughed and I cursed the Author a few times. This story was heartbreaking and it was also beautiful. Though this book broke me at times it did put me back together for the most part. It was definitely an emotional  read, so have your tissues ready.

“This is yours for as long as there are beats within it. Everything I have is yours. My love, my heart, my soul, and my life, for however short or long it may be.”

ABOUT A. M. HARGROVE

AMHargrove-AuthorPhotoOne day, on her way home from work as a sales manager A. M. Hargrove realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn’t do something soon, it would be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase. Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodge ball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head. Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what laptop out the window. She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone, called her boss, and quit her job. Grinning, she made another call to her hubs and told him of her new adventure (after making sure his heart was beating properly again).

So began A. M. Hargrove’s career as a Naughty and Nice Romance Author.

Her books include Adult, New Adult and Young Adult Romances, including, The Guardians of Vesturon Series (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, reEmergent, and the novella Beginnings); Dark Waltz and Death Waltz (The Praestani Novels); The Edge Series (Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge, and Kissing Fire); The Tragic Series (Tragically Flawed and Tragic Desires); Exquisite Betrayal; Dirty Nights: The Novel; and The Hart Brothers Novels (Freeing Her, Freeing Him, and Kestrel).

ABOUT TERRI E. LAINE
TerriELaine-AuthorPhotoWife and mother of three, I’ve always been an avid reader. In my early years, my best friend and I would tell each other stories over the phone when we were bored. We called them our “soap operas” and generally revolved around whatever boy we liked at the time.

Over five years ago, I got this crazy idea to write a novel and try to publish it. And the rest is history. This journey has been a blessing, and a dream realized. I look forward to many more memories to come.
