Overall Rating-4 stars
This was the first book that I have read from Ella Maise and I really liked It , she kept my interest from start to finish. She writes her characters in a way that makes them just so real and easy to connect with. I am a sucker for the childhood crush books, so yes we have heard this story before. A girl has a crush on her older brothers best friend and gets her heart broken. The girl in this book being Olive, and the boy? Well he just so happens to be one of Hollywood’s top actors, Jason Thorne. So yes we have heard several similar plot lines but the author puts some uniqueness twists in this story and it made a great read.
“Since you like my name, would you like to marry me?”
Olive has been in love with Jason since the first time she saw him come home with her older brother. It didn’t matter to her how old they were ,she knew that what she felt was real. Jason and her brother were best friends and since Jason didn’t have exactly have an ideal home life with his Dad gone all the time and his Mom drowning in pills he spent most of his time at Olives house. This only fueled her feelings more and she finally after seven years decided to take a chance and see if all those side long glances and smiles between them actually meant something. But when tragedy suddenly strikes Jason leaves Olives house and any hope of something more behind.
“Then like every other fleeting moment in my life, my first love slowly faded into time.”
Fast forward eight years, Jason’s life consists of making movies and random sex in alley ways. When he gets a script and attends a meeting for a movie that will hopefully take him from Hollywood’s troubled bad boy to golden boy he comes face to face with someone he thought he may never see again. Olive is a college student who also just happened to write a book that Hollywood producers want to turn into a movie. Crazy right? Well what’s even crazier is Jason Thorn the boy who stole her heart and then crushed it all those years ago is set to star in the film.
“My dream boy. My childhood crush. My first love. My only love.”
Olive isn’t so little anymore and she has grown into a beautiful, funny, feisty women and Jason finds himself drawn to her. Where he is hell bent on them spending time together she wants to run away. But what happens when all Jason’s troubles cat h up to him and the only way to fix his image is to get married? Will Olive become Mrs. Jason Thorn?
“Yup he noticed my boobs. Score one for my boobs!”
I really enjoyed this book. Olive was amazing and fun. Jason was sexy and pretty awesome There were some really sweet moments with some great humor sprinkled in. I think by the end of the book, or hell even before that I also fell a little in love with Jason Thorn myself.
“I never want you to feel someone else’s lips against what’s mine. I am it for you Olive, the one, the right one-whatever you want to call it, I’m that. “
I’m an avid reader. Therefore, a big dreamer. I love nothing more than to escape real life to find those very few magical moments in a book. I love how it has the power of stealing your worries away, putting a smile on your face, and of course sometimes making you crush on fictional characters. If I can manage to do even one of those things for a reader, I will be a happy writer.
I can’t even begin to describe how exciting it is to give life to new characters and fall for them. It’s a different kind of addiction I’m determined to keep alive.
I’m still searching for my own happy ending. Until that happens, I’ll live vicariously through my own characters.
