Forgetting August by J.L. Berg ~Blog Tour, Review & Giveaway

fa-coverShe can forgive, but can she forget?

Some days, Everly still thinks she sees him. In the food court at the mall, or in a car speeding past as the light changes. It only lasts a second, but when it happens, she slips back to a time when she was ruled-and nearly ruined-by August Kincaid. And it doesn’t matter that she’s moved on, that she’s about to marry another man. In those moments the only thing she can do to regain control is take a deep breath and remind herself that August can’t hurt her-because he’s in a coma. Except that he’s not anymore.

August is awake. With no memories, he sets out to solve the mystery of his lost life.

He unearths a photograph of a beautiful redhead named Everly and knows instinctively that she’s the key. But when he finds her, the August she describes is more monster than man.

Tortured by the thought of having hurt her, August wants only to become the man Everly deserves. As the new August emerges, Everly glimpses the person she first fell in love with. But can she trust that this August is real? When the final secret of their shared past is revealed, one of them will make a choice that changes their future forever.

Wow, wow, wow. What a book!!!! Talk about being pleasantly surprised! By the last page I can honestly say I was sweating…lol. I refuse to give a lot away about this book because I highly recommend it be read but I will give you the basis of the storyline.

Everly is happy and in love and will shortly be Ryan’s wife…until the worst possible thing happens to her. She gets a phone call that “he” is up. Devastation, loss, fear are just a few things she feels when she gets this phone call.

Its a phone call about her fiance….or rather ex-fiance or rather fiance that has been in a coma for over two years!!!! An abusive, scary fiance. One that has made Everly glad he has been in a coma for all this time.

BUT……yes, I said but….now that he is awake, things are not the same. He is not the same. He has NO memory of his prior life or the bastard that he was…and reaches out to Everly to help fill in those missing pieces…at first she doesn’t believe him that he has no memory, I mean how can he forget all the horrible things he did to her…but over time she realizes he truly doesn’t. She see’s the old August…the August she fell in love with before he became so consumed with money and started acting like a madman.

Whew…..watching this story unfold had me on the edge of my seat….is he faking his amnesia? Is he telling the truth? Will he get his memory back? And what will happen if he does? Will the truth of how he GOT in the coma come to light? Was he really crazy or trying to protect Everly?  Who will Everly choose?  Well hold on to your ass because what unfolds will literally leave you with your mouth hanging open.

I don’t want to say anymore because it would just be ruining it and not to mention this book leaves off in a cliffhanger. I honestly do not know how I will be able to wait for the next book to come out!!!
