3 books (Dissident, Conscience, and Sojourn) with more to follow.
I have to say I have never read anything like this. When I first started reading it, I was a tad bit confused. Then I discovered the way it was written, it goes from past and present. It goes back and forth that way, and it took me a few chapters to realize what was happening, hey… Bear with me, I am slow. LOL
So you have Caroline Gerard, you learn that her husband has died in a car accident, which is suspicious… a new car that had brakes go out. She has two daughters and is now grieving the loss of her husband. Caroline is in politics, which I don’t know a lot about, so it took a lot for me to follow that part of the story in the beginning, but as you continue to read along, it all sort of just falls into place.
Well not long after Caroline’s husband’s death, she goes in a downward spiral. She disrespects another politician publicly, even though what she says in just opinion, and not fact.
The politician she disrespects is John McIntyre, “Jack”. He is an older HOT and GOOD LOOKING man. During a party Caroline meets Jack in person and apologizes for behavior. At first Jack won’t accept the apology, but then later, after some of Caroline’s friends talk to Jack, they start over.
During the first book, Dissident, you learn about the past, and get introduced to the future.
In Conscience, book 2, you move forward throughout the story, and at this point, I felt a lot better about all of the political discussion. Things happen to Caroline that you read about in the “future” section in book 1 and it continues to show you how she is doing, and moves forward.
Then in book 3, Sojourn, the story continues. Caroline is one tough chick, but with the love for her children and Jack, she knows she has to endure what she is going through to get back to her family.
This is an emotional story and you are on the edge of your seat throughout most of it. The love and connection that Caroline and Jack have is amazing, and the hot and steamy love they have is off the charts.
You don’t have to know a lot about politics to know a good story such as this… and I highly recommend giving it a try. You won’t regret it… now if the next part comes out soon, I will be a happy camper, because I need to know what happens next.
