What happens when Gwen attends a wedding with her fiancé and he runs off with the bride? You might think she would have some things in common with the groom, Eli. Perhaps they could commiserate? No. Dr. Asshole is a total jerk to the Con Artist…as he crudely names her. As the two get thrown into close proximity, slowly they become friends. Is there a possibility that love can grow between the two frenemies?
“‘I don’t know how it happened, all I know is that I’m thinking about you, and not just like a friend.’
‘Hannah is –‘
‘Not my problem. Nor is she yours. I really don’t want to spend right now talking about them; we’ve done that. I want to talk about you and me, and this thing between us.’”
What a story! I was really engrossed when they both were jilted at Eli’s wedding and thought they might bond. It never occurred to me that Eli would see her as a reminder of losing Hannah. I loved how there was a slow buildup of enemies to friends to feelings of more than that. This was a true romance and soulmate type of story. A pretty huge twist is thrown in there that floored me. I was like “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO….conflict!!!!” But I have to say when I read a story, I do like when I can be surprised. It went from being a sweet story to a little bit more. It will go on my list of best books I’ve read this year.
So if you are ready for some angst but a good enemies to lovers story, I think you’ll enjoy this one. It surprisingly sneaked up on me when I realized how much I was enjoying it, and I know I’ll recommend it to my friends.
