Rose went out for a night with her friends. Feeling a little tipsy, she grabs a taxi for her ride home to start her early day tomorrow. But that’s not how her night ends. Rose is terrified to find out that she’s being taken captive. She is chained up with no idea what is going on. All of sudden, someone else is chained up with her and shockingly she knows him. Derek is a doctor at the hospital and hopefully he can help them get out of this mess. But he might not be there to help her at all. Perhaps he has other plans altogether.
“They’d knocked him out, too.
Just like they’d done to me.
I wondered if the poor guy was someone who’d mistakenly gotten into the back of the wrong cab and was now the number two candidate for the twelve o’clock news.
Naturally, I was the number one candidate.
I’d been kidnapped longer. And I was the lady. Ladies first.”
Argh…this story! I kept getting a Stephen King vibe when I was reading because I felt like there would be horror twist after twist. What I loved was all of the ups and downs I felt as Rose goes through her journey being held and feeling like she had an ally when Derek shows up. This was a good storyline in the sense that it made you think about what choices you would make in similar circumstances. I don’t know if I would be like Rose although I liked where she ended up. This book was an excellent mixture of mystery, suspense and romance. My absolute favorite type of read. I am so freaked out right now because I only take cabs when I go on a trip by myself and now…is that stranger going to abduct me? This is going to stay in my head for a while.
I hate to admit this was my first book in the Take It Off series. But that just means that I can go back and read more. The more books I read by Cambria, the more I really like her writing style and can’t wait to read the hash tag series as well.
Cambria Hebert is an award winning, bestselling novelist of more than twenty books. She went to college for a bachelor’s degree, couldn’t pick a major, and ended up with a degree in cosmetology. So rest assured her characters will always have good hair.
Besides writing, Cambria loves a caramel latte, staying up late, sleeping in, and watching movies. She considers math human torture and has an irrational fear of chickens (yes, chickens). You can often find her running on the treadmill (she’d rather be eating a donut), painting her toenails (because she bites her fingernails), or walking her chorkie (the real boss of the house).
Cambria has written within the young adult and new adult genres, penning many paranormal and contemporary titles. Her favorite genre to read and write is romantic suspense. A few of her most recognized titles are: The Hashtag Series, Text, Torch, and Tattoo.
Cambria Hebert owns and operates Cambria Hebert Books, LLC.
