It’s the end of summer. Just before I start senior year with my two best friends in the whole world. Dustin and Emily are everything to me. We’ve been inseparable since middle school, and when we’re together, nothing can go wrong.
But things aren’t always what they seem. Em’s turned into a drunken mess who parties too much. Dustin and I have hooked up a few times―and now he’s ready to take our relationship to the next level. Yet I’m not sure I want things to change. I’m scared if I take it any further with Dustin, our friendship will be ruined forever. Then there’s Ryan. The new guy. He’s hot. He flirts way too much. And Em has totally set her sights on him.
So when my best friend betrays me in the worst possible way, guess who’s there to help me pick up the pieces of my broken heart? Ryan. But he’s so confusing. Annoying. Sweet. Sexy. I want to trust him, yet he makes it so hard. What I really want is for everything to go back to the way it was before.
Before I found out that best friends make the worst kind of enemies.

This is the first book in the new YA Friends series by Monica Murphy and it delivers everything I love about YA and more. The Author gives us an engaging story chockfull of teenage drama, first loves, betrayal, and a whole lot of angst. Is there anything better? This book kept me buckled in tight for the crazy roller coaster ride it was, from start to finish.
Ok so in this story we have Olivia or Liv and her two best friends Em and Dustin. They are basically inseparable until summer comes and Liv has to go out of state to spend the summer with her Dad. But before she leaves her and Dustin have crossed that line between friendship and something more, several times. Now she is back getting ready to start her senior high with Em and Dustin, but she soon discovers that during her summer away a lot has changed.
“We’ve crossed the line. In his eyes, there’s no going back. He wants more. He wants it-me- all the time. I think I want that too, but I’m not sure.”
Liv can sense a change in her best friends soon as she gets home. Em is drinking a ton and who knows what else and all the sudden she is in with the popular crowd. Dustin wants more, way more and now that they crossed the line Liv thinks she wants more too. But uh oh all the sudden the hot new guy Ryan who Em wants is flirting way too much with Liv. What happens when a secret comes out and the friends are faced with the truth of the ultimate betrayal? Well, the teenage drama ensues and I loved it!
“We’re all messing around with each other. And it’s a freaking disaster waiting to happen.”
I really enjoyed this fast paced and addicting story. The author really knows how to engage the reader and I for one can’t wait for more. Oh and this book does end on a cliffhanger, so yeah I really need the next book asap!
