I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.
I was ten years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.
This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

The Silent Waters is the third book in the Element Series but can be read as a stand alone. I have read the first two books in the series and fell in love with the characters and storylines so needless to say I was looking forward to see what Brittainy had in store for us. Let me just say- she did not disappoint!!! This book, I can only hope my review does it some justice, was amazing. Seriously! I finished it 3 days ago and have not stopped thinking about it. Some of the subjects discussed in the book hit close to home and as I read how each of the characters dealt with their issues, they stole pieces of my heart.
“I hadn’t known you could hear someone’s voice so clearly in the silent moments.”
All of our lives are composed of a series of different moments- some of which we have control over while others we do not. This magnificent story is the story of Maggie and Brooks and their moments. The moments that forever changed their lives and the ones that forged the path they decided to go down. At the tender age of ten an unfortunate event happens that no one could have predicted or stopped from happening. Maggie’s voice is taken from her. In a split second, a single moment in time, Maggie is no longer the happy go lucky little girl she just was and her life is forever changed. The only person who can hear her through the silence is Brooks. Together Maggie and Brooks speak to each other in their own language of silence. As years go by, everyday Brooks becomes more and more of Maggie’s saving grace. It isn’t until a single moment in time turns the tables and Maggie must become Brooks’ saving grace.
This book evoked so many feelings from me. I loved it! I seriously cannot say that enough. I can’t wait to do a reread of this book because I have a feeling no matter how many times one will reread this book it will still have as big of an impact as it did the first time reading it. I have not picked up a book from Brittainy that I didn’t fall in love with. Once again she proves that her writing is pure magic on paper and her stories make her readers feel like they are living the story. Please don’t miss out on this amazing book and go read it!!!
