Just when environmental scientist Dr. Emery Bradford’s globe-trotting days seem to be winding down, she heads to Canada to help a sexy, bearded park warden, Julian Michael Jensen, investigate the unnatural wildlife and their deaths in the Algonquin Provincial Park.
The moment Julian and Emery meet, heated fireworks ignite, and keeping on task proves to be challenging as they battle their desire for one another. However, they have an important job to do that requires discretion and focus because what’s hidden in the forest threatens not only the wildlife, but possibly also their very survival, but new obstacles start to present themselves behind every rock and tree.
Can they hold on to their intensely growing attraction for each other while attempting to save Algonquin Provincial Park? Or will running for their lives destroy everything they are fighting for?

Something is going on in the Algonquin Provincial Park with animals mysteriously dying but all testing has come back negative. Dr. Emery Bradford has been asked as a favor to come in and investigate with Julian Michael Jensen, a park warden. When feelings start flying between the two will they be able to keep them from interfering with their quest to save the wildlife or will whoever is behind the deaths put a stop to the attraction permanently.
“I’d told her she had nothing to worry about, that there’d be no advances toward her that could be considered inappropriate. I’d all but promised that, but…she’d let me touch her, let me hold her hand. Hold her to comfort the both of us after she flew off the edge of a small cliff. I’d kissed her and held her head to my thundering heart.
It had felt so f*cking right.
I was dying to know if she thought so too.”
Whoa! This story really was something different! Emery was badass as an environmental scientist….well…pretty much an eco-warrior helping to track down the people/companies/governments destroying the environment. And Julian…I mean Mr. Toronto…was the sexy ass, bearded and tattooed park warden who’s also an environmental activist. I was fully invested on what was happening to the animals in the park. Plus…the hot panty melting tension and sexual attraction. Here’s me inside Emery’s head – “Can I be unbiased? How can I not jump his bones? The moral dilemmas here!!!” What’s pretty cool here is Emery is the strong, rational one regarding keeping the investigation and developing relationship separate. Julian is the emotional one! Does she like me? Is she using me? Is she going to leave me? I don’t read many books with needy guys. I kind of enjoyed it.
I love the kind of books Kelli Jean writes. They are always a bit different than what I normally read which make them a nice break from the same old stuff. This one especially was fun and I hope to read about a book about their friends Abigail and Nate.
