Synopsis

Only Death Follows is the first book in a new apocalyptic romance series from Author Jennifer Foor, writing as Canter Mills.

This series features a family divided, lost, and determined to find their way back to one another while everything around them is dying.

After a government created virus has killed ninety-percent of the world’s population, the few survivors must learn to live without the conveniences of electricity and running water and other modern day amenities. With the infected still contagious, and groups of rebel militia seeking domination, it’s a fight to remain alive. One family will stop at nothing to stay together and find refuge.

Book One features Nova Knox and her struggle to get her brothers to safety while the rest of the family is missing and possibly dead.

Everything has changed.
It’s a fight for survival.
Death is chasing us down, and no matter how far or fast we run, we’re staring it straight in the eye and daring it to take us.
I have one purpose; to protect my family.
Dead or alive, nothing will stand in my way.

I’m not sure what I’d do in an end of the world situation but it sure sounds like a horrific situation! Nova is trying to help her family survive as 90% of the world’s population becomes infected with a virus like a plague and ends up dead…or worse. Nova’s family is fortunate to live out in the country and started preparing as news reports predicted the plague spreading with no cure. Everyone thought they could just ride this out with some canned food and avoiding other people with the virus. But as someone drops EMPs and most electronic devices stop working, things get a lot more dire. Just the thought of living in this world makes me want to start being a doomsday prepper.

“We just sent someone our age, an innocent young man, probably to die from the elements, instead of the disease he may be immune to.

My family is torn apart.

We’re no closer to safety than we were at our house.

There’s no telling what will happen if we step foot outside, or if those evil people who hid the infected in the barn will be waiting for us.

This is a disaster.”

I loved Nova and how she’s learning to be a stronger woman and a survivalist. I’m very intrigued by Reilly. For the most part, I trust him and think he’d be a good addition to their group. Her ex-boyfriend Cody…I just don’t know about him. To me, Nova seems to have more strength in character than Cody but that just because I haven’t seen him really prove himself yet. I’m looking forward to reading about their struggles to find a safe haven and keep out the “zombies” and other survivors who might want to harm them. How is this family going to survive and who can they trust?
