This is a completely new author to me so I was super excited to read this book. It’s a standalone. Super intense story. It takes off quickly and keeps up intensity throughout. Definitely had me on my toes for sure. I really thought the flow of the story and writing was amazing. I just wanted MORE! I fell for the characters and especially Guy’s moody alpha ways. He made me swoon and want to throat punch him at times as well.

Over all I really enjoyed this read. Fast paced and very detailed. It made for an easy book to get lost in for sure. I look forward to more books by Erin and I can’t wait to see where they take me.

EXCERPT

“Thank you,” I sincerely say to him, hoping he’ll look my way.
He does. “For what?”
Now that I can look him in the eyes, I feel like I can do this the right way. “Thank you for saving my life. Thank you for caring about keeping me alive. I wouldn’t have been able to last an hour without you.”
His expression deadpans at first until I notice the vulnerability in his eyes.
“You’re welcome,” he finally answers. “But you’re stronger than you think.”
“No, I’m not. I’m scared and incapable.”
“You’re wrong. You’ve got some fight in you. I can see a feisty woman deep down in there.” He gives me a look that reminds me of how uncomfortable he can make me feel.
“Feisty?” I pretend to be insulted. “Don’t call me names just because I got mad at your erection the other morning.”
Guy laughs. “First of all, feisty is not calling you names. I believe the word I used that morning is prude. But the funny thing is, I don’t even think you’re prude. I just think you act like it.”
“What’s the difference?” I entertain this conversation.
“Difference is, you’re fooling yourself. Second of all,” he goes on to say, “why the hell do you call it an erection? It sounds like you’re teaching a sex-ed class.”
“Uh,” I scoff, “what else would you call it? That’s exactly what it was.”
Guy rolls onto his stomach. “Try cock and dick. You’ll sound more like an adult.”
“Co—” I stop myself by putting my hand over my mouth. “I can’t say those words.”
“Oh, Naomi, who the hell is going to hear you out here? You can scream them if you want to. That’s the silver lining of being stranded on an island. Nobody can hear your dirty mouth.”
Cock. Dick. I try those words in my mind first. They make me want to giggle like a little girl.
“Cock,” I say out loud and turn to Guy. “Happy now?”
He seems unimpressed. “Louder, Nay.”
“Cock!” I scream and immediately start to laugh.
Guy chuckles, too. “Dick,” he encourages.
“Dick!” I yell so loudly that there’s an echo around us.
“Pussy.” Guy continues to laugh.
“Pussy!”
“Cunt,” he tells me to say next.
I gasp. “I can’t use that wo—”
There’s a crackling sound behind us, and it startles me to look in the direction of the noise. The air becomes still around us, and the mood completely changes.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Erin Lockwood grew up in Castro Valley, California and attended the University of Oregon, where she graduated in 2003 with a degree in journalism. From there she moved to Denver and spent the next seven years searching for the love of her life and building the family of her dreams.

It wasn’t long until, with children starting preschool and more time on her hands, Erin refocused on her career, beginning with a successful entry into the world of residential real estate as a Realtor. Free time was spent reading book after book (and binge-watching the subsequent films) in the New Adult genre. Feeling hopelessly in love with her husband, she wrote him a short story leading up to their fifth wedding anniversary. That’s when she discovered her tireless passion to share her experience of falling in love through fictional characters. That story evolved into the first novel in the Angles trilogy.

Erin still lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband, Phil, and their three children.
