It’s been a long time since I read a rock star romance and with Cherry Beats, Vicki James reminded me why I loved them so much. This story for me was like falling in love with your favorite song all over again. It’s full of all those things that make a rock star romance. The angst, drama, drugs, women, of course the music and oh let’s not forget the sex…oh damn the sex scenes were smoking hot. With an amazing hero and heroine and some pretty awesome secondary characters this book was so good and my emotions were all over the place. I laughed, I cried and oh boy did I swoon a whole hell of a lot.

“I had no idea boys like him existed before then. Or that I’d spend the next eight years wishing he could be mine.”

Tessa aka Cherry has been in love with Presley West since she was eleven years old when she watched him twirl a drumstick in his hand and proceed to transform into a rock god right before her eyes at the school talent show. From that moment on she was obsessed, well obsessed may be putting it mildly and for the next eight years she couldn’t let go of wanting him. They knew each other but in more of passing way. Until all those nights of banter, heavily laced with some off the charts sexual tension between them turned into a night that would finally make all her years of dreaming come true. A night that would change everything.

Presley West, oh how I loved him. He has the whole rock star god vibe on lockdown. The quiet bad boy that all the girls want but no matter how many women throw themselves at him he can’t get the beautiful red head from back home off his mind or out of his heart. Presley is a good example of the whole people only see what they want to see. They see him as a rock star, a man who has the world at his finger tips, but that’s not all he is. He sweet and lonely and wants a connection. So when he proposes to Cherry that they share more than just one night will she take a chance or is the rock star life not the life she planned and walk away, no matter what the cost?

“The thing is Presley…you were always meant to be a dream to me.”

I loved Presley and I loved how he showed over and over that he was so much more then some people gave him credit for. He was willing to put himself on the line for the people he cared about. He wasn’t perfect and had some serious baggage but it was awesome that Cherry loved him for him. Not for the rock god but for the man. And Cherry? Well she was amazing too. Determined and loyal and pretty damn awesome. This was a great read full of sex, drugs, rock and roll and a fantastic love story! Can’t wait to read more from this author.
