Title: Waiting for the Sun
Duet: Hand Over My Heart Duet #2
Author: Lindsey Iler
Release: November 4, 2019
Genre: NA Romance
Blurb
I’m unapologetically in love with Nick Kovac.
He can claim to hate me and blame me for everything.
I’ll fight for us both.
He severs the promise he made, leaving me on the hockey rink floor, heartbroken and alone.
It doesn’t take me long to stand with my head held high, while he’s being a coward. Stuck between push and pull, everything we are is in question.
Sometimes the answers are in the stars. Others, it’s where the sun shines that our lives change.

Waiting for the Sun picks up right where the first book left off and everything is just a mess for Nick and Hannah. Right away we are full speed ahead on an emotional roller coaster as these two try and navigate through everything that life is throwing at them. The author didn’t hold back in this story. It’s full of angst, drama, deceit, forgiveness and love. Nick and Hanna’s story will obliterate your heart and have you wondering so many times whether these two even stand a chance.
“Fate. Serendipity. Happenstance. Call it whatever you want. It’s what she and I have always been.”
Nick and Hannah are dealing with the repercussions of so many things that happened since Mia’s death while still trying to deal with her death itself. They are both still grieving and find solace in each other but more people seem against them than for them. I definitely was one of those people that teetered on not understanding how they can betray Mia’s memory like they did so soon after her death. But this story gave us so much in the way of an explanation or rather an understanding with the talks, the constant push and pull, the letter and the heartbreak. The love. These two had a rough road that I wasn’t sure if they were ever going to reach the end and on top of that I had to remind myself several times that they were only teenagers dealing with all of this.
“Sometimes the beauty is in the broken.”
Okay, I loved Hannah even more in the second book but at times I honestly just wanted her to walk away and not come back. She’s loved Nick basically her whole life and I know they are both going through so much but there were points where she gave everything she had and left herself emotionally raw for him and received nothing but a shattered heart in return. This girl loved hard and was all in no matter what. I think that was one of my favorite things about her. I loved Nick and understand that he felt like he was betraying Mia but sometimes the way he treated Hannah drove me insane. All of the back and forth had me wanting to slap him and tell him to wake him the hell up before he loses her. It was definitely a bumpy and broken road for these two but the love was always there. Sometimes you just have to fight harder for it.
“What a life to live, knowing you are never alone amongst the chaos. He’s my person.”
This was a heartbreaking and beautiful end to an amazing duet. So many feels and I just loved these characters and their story. It was a truly emotional read and I had my Kleenex handy as our hearts were broken and bruised several times but there was also hope and love and forgiveness. The author delivered a fantastic duet and I look forward to reading more from her.
“One thing I’m certain of, is our triumphs and failings together will always be celebrated and fixed under the sky. We just have to wait for the sun.”

Excerpt
“Can I help you?” Nick says, a sly, devilish grin spread across his face.
“You tell me. You’re the one gawking at me from across the pool.” I bite my lip.
He leans forward, brushing my wet hair behind my ear like he’s done a thousand times before. “I wouldn’t exactly call it gawking.”
“What would you call it then?” I take a step back, giving us distance we clearly need. Together we are like a ticking time bomb. If you get too close, you’ll get caught in the explosion.
“Appreciating.” He stalks forward, forcing me to continue backwards until my head bumps the tiled wall. “Hate and love go hand in hand.”
“You don’t hate me.” I straighten my back, inconveniently pressing my chest right into his. He sucks in a deep hiss, allowing his eyes to roam the tiny gap between our bodies. “If I were to guess, Nick, it’s quite the opposite.” I grab the drawstring on his swim trunks. With one tight tug, there’s no space between us.
“Attraction has nothing, and I mean nothing, to do with our downfall.” He bites his plump, bottom lip the moment my finger skims over the sexy V dipping into his shorts. Like a well-oiled machine, when he moves, I shift to accompany him. With his hand on my hip, he grinds into me. “If I could get past the truth, I’d move that bathing suit to the side and bury myself so deep inside you, you’d forget your own damn name, Hannah.”
My lips open. Words flow through my brain, right to the tip of my tongue, but only muffled sounds come out when I try to speak.
“You can play your little games with me. Flaunt your perfect body all over the damn place. Flirt with Williamson, all you want, Hannah. But one thing will always remain the same. While I want you so damn bad, I get to live knowing you want me even more.”
