I have loved everything I have ever read by Corrine Michaels. She has this amazing ability to create characters that you just fall wholeheartedly in love with. And her books are always chocked full of meaning and a ton of emotions. This book was no different. Connor and Ellie’s second chance love story is one filled with heartbreak, betrayal, loss and a unwavering hope for redemption. There were even some twists and turns that I didn’t at all see coming. My emotions were all over with this one. I laughed, I swooned, I cried. Oh boy did I cry. It was like non stop there for a while as my supply of tissues slowly depleted my heart broke for Connor and Ellie and what they each went through.

“It has been eight years since that night. Eight years of pretending that it was all a dream because it had to be.”

Connor and Ellie shared one night together eight years ago. They were two strangers both broken and desperately looking for something to take away the pain. They found that something in each other. The next day their lives would both change drastically and they wouldn’t cross paths again for eight years.

“My angel has returned, only she isn’t mine.”

Connor and his brothers swore they wouldn’t return to their small town of Sugarloaf until their horrible excuse for a father was dead. Well, that day has come and soon all the brothers find themselves in the last place they want to be. Due to some stipulations placed in their fathers will, Connor finds himself begrudgingly on the ranch for longer than anticipated. All he wants to do is get the hell out of dodge until a chance encounter brings him face to face with the women he has thought about everyday for the past eight years. Now all of the sudden Sugarloaf holds the hope of second chances for him instead of memories of horror.

Ellie never expected to see Connor again and she needs him out her life and out of Sugarloaf as soon as possible. She has a plan and secrets. Secrets she’s not ready to share. But Connor isn’t willing to let her walk away that easily. He sees her heartache and thinks he knows what she is trying to hide. Maybe he knows it too well and maybe these two broken hearts can help each other heal. I absolutely loved Connor. He was a unique soul and was fiercely protective of the ones he loved. He was several people’s hero in this story. I liked Ellie too and wanted her to believe she deserved more because she did. There were a few reasons this wasn’t a five star read for me but can’t really say without giving anything away. But I did truly love their story and can’t wait for more Arrowhead Brothers!
