This is the second book in the Lone Pine Lake series by Karen Erickson. I had no idea going in that there was a book before this but didn’t feel like I was missing any bits and pieces. I’d say this quick, light and sweet read that can be read as stand alone.

Cameron McKenzie high tailed it out of his small home town as soon as he could and has avoided coming home ever since. Now he’s back in town for his sister Jane’s wedding and everything in Lone Pine Lake is just as he remembers it. Well, almost everything.

“She was off limits. Untouchable. Forbidden.”

Chloe Dawson isn’t the same girl who used to follow Cam around crushing on him since they were kids. Cam can’t help notice what a beautiful women she’s become as soon as he sees her at his sister’s wedding. He can barely keep his eyes off the women who he always thought of as his sister’s pesky friend. Now he can only think of what it would be like to kiss her and he does just that and sparks are flying everywhere. Thing is…Cam doesn’t do girlfriends and Chloe seems like the kind of girl that wants a white picket fence and the promise of forever. But she takes Cam by surprise when she offers him a deal he may not be able to refuse. Only what happens when the deal you thought you wanted turns into something more?

This was a sweet, light romantic read. More so on the light part. I enjoyed Cam and Chloe in their own ways. Cam wasn’t the runaway from anything and everything because he couldn’t make a commitment bad boy everyone made him out to be. He really was a good guy underneath it all and Chloe saw that good in him even when Cam didn’t see it himself. Chloe was sweet…the town princess. Everyone loved her and despite trying not to, Cam did too. They were good together and I loved that they found their happily ever after. It was an okay read. I just found parts of the book immature for the ages they are and losing interest in parts. Also part of me not loving the book might be because the romance and steam were way over on the light side of things. But it was a cute and quick read and if you’re in the mood for something not too heavy this book might be for you!
