One of my favorite things about the book world is when I find an author I haven’t read before and fall in love with their writing, the characters and their story. Kelsey Clayton was quickly added to my go to Author list with the first book in her Haven Grace Prep series. This second chance, enemy -to-lovers, bully romance was everything I had hoped it would be and so much more. And did you see that cover? It sure is getting hot in here.

Savannah attends the super exclusive Haven Grace Prep. She’s the captain of the cheerleaders and she and her friends rule the school. From the outside it looks like Sav has it all. The perfect life but unbeknownst to those closest to her that perfect life is an illusion. She has a secret she will do anything to keep. A secret that could destroy her. It’s her senior year and she’s almost out of the place that holds so many memories for her. She just has to keep it together and make it through these next few months. Julliard is so close she can almost taste it. She’s worked her ass off to get where she is and is determined to not let anything or anyone get in her way. But what she didn’t expect was for her whole plan to be shot to hell as soon as she looks into the dark blue eyes of Haven Grace’s new QB who also just so happens to be her childhood best friend.

Grayson hasn’t seen Sav in over eight years. Not since the day his whole world got turned upside down and his family had to leave town. His childhood best friend and the girl he once loved with all his heart, Savannah Montgomery. Sav has no idea why Grayson hates her so much. She has no idea what happened to the boy she loved who is now the bully standing before her threatening to expose her when he finds out her dark secret.

Things get super complicated right away between Gray and Sav and they walk that very thin line between love and hate. Grayson is hell bent on destroying her and making her pay for what she did. He plans to shatter the perfect illusion she has built at Haven Grace Prep. He is also struggling with this crazy intense bond between them that’s been there since they were kids. There is this constant push and pull between them but the whole time you can just feel the unbreakable connection and love these two have for each other. It’s so heartbreaking and messy and insanely beautiful. But when dark secrets are exposed and the past comes crashing into the present they both discover everything is not always as it seems. Sometimes the truth can hurt more than the lie. Can love set them free?

I can’t express enough how much I absolutely loved these two characters. I wanted to hate Grayson but I just couldn’t. Once we find out all that’s behind his insatiable need for revenge we start to understand more of who he is and the hurt he has carried for years. He really is a sweet guy and I so desperately wanted these two to make it together and find the love they both deserved. They were young but their bond was so strong. Then there’s Sav. I adored her character. She was a super bitch when it came to some things at school but she had to be. It was all part of the web of secrets and lies. But she was amazing and strong and resilient. One of my favorite characters ever. She loved hard and my heart broke into a million pieces for her when we discover the extent of her secret. High school bully romances are one of my favorite genres and although sometimes lately the storylines seem repetitive, I usually don’t mind. I love them so much and always find myself going back for more. With this book the author gave us a unique storyline that set it apart from some others. I would highly recommend this book to lovers of bully romance and second chances. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

“You know, you might be lacking in male genitalia, but the guys’ bathroom is across the hall.”

He narrows his eyes on me, and I think I even see the corner of his mouth twitch—but that could be my mind playing tricks on me. “Funny, because the Savi I knew would turn bright red at the slightest mention of a dick.”

I cross my arms and lean back against the cool ceramic. “That girl is long gone.”

“So I’ve noticed.” He crosses the distance between us and reaches his hand out to brush the hair out of my face. “It’s a shame. She was my favorite.”

He’s so close that his scent overtakes my senses. The smell of smoke masked over by cologne, yet still him. I don’t dare to move as he brings his hand to the back of my neck and presses his forehead against mine. Even after all these years, he’s makes my whole body come alive. Every nerve ending concentrates on his touch. He remains still, his lips only millimeters from mine.

“Gray.” I whisper, but regret the nickname as soon as it comes out of my mouth.

He tenses instantly, and the energy in the room changes. His grip tightens as he pulls back, and the fire in his dark blue eyes sends fear straight through me.

“Don’t call me that,” he growls. “You don’t get to fucking call me that.”

My brows furrow. “What happened to you?”

The dark chuckle that comes from his mouth echoes around the small room. “Isn’t it obvious, Savannah?” My name is like poison on his tongue. “You happened to me. There isn’t a single thing in my life that you haven’t ruined. Broken everything that ever meant anything to me. Now, I won’t stop until I break you.”
