This was a freaking great read! The absolute best beach read! Cooper and Reese are BFF’s and have been since they were little. They can finish each others sentences and always, always have each other’s backs. Each of them realize they have feelings for each other as they get older. And it’s the old story of “don’t want to lose them as a friend if we take it to the next level”. Literally, they never go there out of pure terror of them losing each other. That is why the title is perfect…because what these two put themselves through is pure agony!

Not only are these two childhood best friends, but they end up going to the same college together and having the same group of friends. A group of friends that ALL think these two should be together and bust them about it all the time. The same answer from Cooper and Reese is always “we are only friends”. As time goes on, the attraction does get talked about and let’s just say it doesn’t go well. It was a cringeworthy scene and they remain friends. Cooper’s guy friends are telling him he is making a mistake and missing out on something great. But he feels sick if he thinks about losing her.

By senior year of their college experience things are changing in a BIG way! Cooper might be leaving for his future dreams and Reese has found someone. This combo is wreaking havoc on their friendship and they are in pure agony.

At the end of the book, I was mentally drained watching these two fight their intense feelings for each other. Wedges are driven between them which I hated and I was dying! OMG…this story took a turn that I was not expecting and I was holding my breath until the very last page. We are left with a humungous cliffhanger! Dear lord I am praying this next book is out soon because I cannot wait to see what happens with these two!
