Complex, angst-filled, unique, and HOT chemistry! Are you ready for Donna’s story?!

What kind of idiot gets on my bad side on his first day at my school? Hendrix Hawthorn is arrogant, cocky, infuriatingly attractive and clearly doesn’t realise I can make his life hell.

Which is exactly what I intend to do… until he shows up in the one place no one knows I go to – the one place that makes me feel alive. Now my reputation is in his hands, but I’ll be damned if I go down without a fight.

What kind of spoiled brat thinks I’ll just fall at her feet like the rest of these jerks? Donna Mead is a stone-cold bitch and I don’t want anything to do with her or her friends.

It’s bad enough I have to finish senior year at Fulton Academy – exactly the kind of place where I made the single biggest mistake of my life. I just want to keep my head down, get decent grades… until she shows up where she doesn’t belong. Now I can’t seem to stop myself from trying to prevent Donna from ruining her life like I did.

This is the second book in the Devilbend Dynasty series and in this installment, we get all things Donna and Hendrix. We met Donna in the first book as Mena’s loyal, take no shit cousin. You could tell right away she had a story behind her, and I couldn’t wait to hear it. Hendrix is a new player in the game at Fulton Academy and thankfully we get a whole lot of him in this book.

Donna is the queen bee of the school. The girl who is picture perfect on the outside but in reality is barely keeping her head above water on the inside. She is used to always getting who and what she wants so when the new guy at school doesn’t bow down like a good boy she declares war.

“You try to be what everyone expects you to be, but deep down, even you must know you can’t control everything.”

Hendrix isn’t in the mood for anyone’s shit at Fulton Academy. All he wants is to escape his past and get through this year. But then Donna Mead steps in his path and his whole plan is shot to hell. She is wild and reckless and reminds him so much of himself. Or rather the person he used to be. He finds himself trying to help her as they play this crazy game of push and pull. She is everything he wants to avoid and he’s everything she hates but they can’t stay away from each other.

“Donna Mead was a fucking force of nature, and if I wasn’t careful, I had a feeling she would knock me to my knees like a goddamn landslide.”

I like that this book had a little bit of a twist on the whole enemies to lovers/bully romance. Donna was more the bully to Hendrix and she played the role well. I loved Hendrix and hated that he thought his past defined him but loved that he chose to help someone else. His past is so heartbreaking and I can only imagine how that would change someone. As much as I loved Hendrix, I really disliked Donna. I was looking forward to her story. I don’t know if it’s because the whole “dark” Donna was put out there so early but to me, it just wasn’t working. I loved how loyal she was to her family and friends but that’s the extent of my love for all things Donna. I just thought her story was a cluster fuck and try as I may, I just couldn’t with her. I did love Mena, Turner, Harlow and Amaya in this story and all the angst and drama we got along the way. Hendrix was for sure my favorite of them all. I liked this book but definitely is not my favorite in the series.
