Oh, how I missed the amazing and truly magical worlds that K.A. Linde creates for her readers. House of Dragons is everything you could ever need or want in a fantasy novel. This book has it all. Suspense and mystery around every corner. Amazing characters and let’s not forget the element of magic and the brilliant dragons. I just can’t say enough about how much I absolutely loved everything single thing about this book.
“The House of Dragons is an elite training program for Fae.”
Kerrigan Argon is a half fae/half human that has lived and trained in the House of Dragons since she was left at the mountain side by her father when she was a young girl. Many people in her world have shunned her or fought against her having a place in society. Although she has proven again and again she is more than worthy.
“You can’t possibly understand how everyone treats me because of who I am. I can’t tell people about my abilities. I can’t show who I truly am. And even if I could, no one would accept me for it.”
When the times comes for the Dragon Tournament so many unexpected twists and turns take place. Five dragons are slated to bond with the five victors that succeed from the twelve tribes. But when the day the tribes are set to showcase their selected competitors, a new and extremely unexpected prince comes in a cloud of black smoke to take his rightful place in the competition.
“My name is Fordham Ollivier, prince and heir to the House of Shadows. And I have come to enter the dragon tournament and reclaim what was once stolen from us.”
Fordham has lived his life hidden away in the shadows but now he wants his chance to come into the light and fight for what he deserves. Kerrigan is assigned to be his guide. Even though his people usually kill off half fae as they deem them unworthy, these two form an alliance as murder and mystery appear out of nowhere. Both need to rely on each other. As the tournament begins, Fordham battles for his right to claim a dragon. But as the tournament comes to a close, Kerrigan faces something she never expected.
“You have bewitched me so. And she was lost to him”
This book was brilliant! The magical journey the author takes us on is like no other. I fell in love with Kerrigan and how strong and resilient she was. Her sharp wit and loyalty was an added bonus. The prince of darkness also stole my heart. All dark and broody but selfless and extremely intriguing. I can not wait to see where this story takes us next. I am trying to come to terms with the fact that it will be a year, but I know it’ll be more than worth the wait.
