This epic journey continues as the dangers grow, the questions mount, and the attraction builds.
About A Discovery of Secrets and Fate
Life as I knew it ended the day I accepted my fate.
In its place is an existence even the wildest imagination could never fathom. Strange creatures walk among us, plotting our demise, and I’ve come to find that the fate of our world rests squarely on my shoulders. We’re all in danger and I’m trying to figure out how to make it through each day.
The key to my survival is a man I can’t figure out. As dangerous as the darkest fae, I have no choice but to work with him to stop the prophecy that’s foretold to be the ruination of mankind.
Carrick Byrne continues to be my only source of information, but he doles it out as he sees fit. He intrigues and scares me in equal measure, yet I can’t help but be attracted to him. And the more I discover about him, the more it becomes clear he feels the same.
As we travel to Faere in search of answers, we find that every piece of information leads to more questions, that every question leads to a new piece of the puzzle, and that, most importantly, no one can be trusted.
The more secrets we uncover, one thing is certain— if we have any chance of saving the world, we have to do it together.
A Discovery of Secrets and Fate is book two of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and is best enjoyed if read in series order.

“How did I, once again, foolishly underestimate my situation?”
This is the second book in the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and picks up where The Revelation of Light and Dark left off. We are pulled back into a world full of magic, suspense and mystery. A world where light and dark magic coexist. A world where if you were walking by one of the millions of residents on the streets of Seattle you’d never know that behind some of their smiles lies something so dark and sinister but Finley knows. She sees the good and the evil but will her gift help or end up getting her killed?
“I am but a servant of the gods.”
As Finley tries to grapple with what happened to her sister things get a little crazy. I mean it’s not everyday you see your sister turn into a dark fae or learn you’re the key to a prophecy that may just save the world or possibly destroy it. It’s a lot for a girl to take in. She starts to wonder if she should just walk away. We know Carrick has a stake in the game so he has to convince her that she must take her part in the prophecy. In order to do that he needs to earn her trust. Carrick takes Finley on a journey to find more answers but we also get a hell of a lot more questions. I do like the pace the author is using with Carrick and Finley’s relationship. It’s clear they feel a pull towards one another but neither overly acts on it. When Carrick reveals his secrets we start to understand why.
“You live almost five thousand years and come talk to me about how tired you are of everything. How boring the hundreds and hundreds of years passing are in the gods calling on you for something.”
I was extremely curious as to where the author was going to take us with this book. The first book was a ton of information to take in and left me with a million questions and a whole lot of confusion. But as the story continued I was slowly but surely sucked into the amazing and magical world created for us. The pace of this book was about the same as the first…a bit slow. I thought the first book laid the groundwork for the series but it felt like this one did too. So much more information and at points it dragged it a little for me. But it’s a five book series so I am hoping the next book picks up a little. I am excited to see where Finley and Carrick go from here. This one also ends in a cliffhanger and it’s a big one!
“Fear twists my gut even as longing whispers through me. I don’t know if he’s going to kiss me or beat me, but I know which one I’d prefer.”
