Eighteen-year-old Quinn has been in love with Jesse McCallister for as long as she can remember. Her older brother Mason’s best friend, Jesse was basically a permanent fixture with the Cavanaugh clan. He’s nine years older and definitely off limits as far as her brothers are concerned. It’s always been an unrequited love but a kiss on her eighteenth birthday may change all that…Quinn hopes.

“It was no exaggeration to say that I have been in love with Jesse my entire life. Too bad he only thought of me as his best friend’s little sister. I had one summer to turn things around.”

Jesse McCallister is a motocross god. He rides a bike like he was born to be on the track but some serious shit goes down with his now ex-fiancé and team. He heads home to Texas for the summer to lie low, work at the bar he partly owns and spend some time with those closest to him. Being home also means seeing more of Quinn Cavanaugh, a lot more than he knows her brothers would be happy with. Jesse’s not looking for another relationship after the way his last one ended. Quinn will be heading to sunny California to attend school at the end of summer so she’s shooting her shot…even if it may break her heart. Will Jesse ever see her as more than the little girl he pretended to marry when she was five or will they crash and burn before they even get a chance?

This book was intense with a ton of angst. I loved that it was a slow burn and the author brought so much of their past and strong connections into this story. It was a little hard for me to get into the story at the beginning but the second half really picked up. I loved Jesse from the start but I honestly had a hard time with Quinn at some points. I don’t know if it was her age or what but I was annoyed at how much she pushed and obsessed over Jesse. It was clear there was a connection there. It felt redundant but that’s my opinion. Maybe it won’t bother others but it drove me a tad crazy. This is the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone and I did not read the others. I think it might have been better if I did because I felt like I was missing out on some key factors and character history that left me a little lost and a whole lot curious. I did however love the way the author wrapped it all up. The last few chapters were my favorite. Overall it was a decent story and I found it entertaining.
