This was a quick, cute read as the first book in the Hot in Chicago series. Roman is a lieutenant at a firehouse. A single dad who’s not open to any relationships at this point in his life. His life is content with enough excitement dealing with work, a kid and his crazy twin sister. Out one night, he meets a hot woman who he shares a steamy moment with and he can’t get her out of his mind. Abby is a brazen, determined woman who has strong family ties to the firehouse community. She was immediately attracted to Roman and after the kiss they shared, he knocked her off her feet. Imagine both their surprise when Abby shows up to his firehouse as a recruit under Roman. This turns into a lot of should we/shouldn’t we…will this affect our working relationship…will we be distracted…conversations. I wish there hadn’t been so much debate over this. But all the discussion does build a slow burn between these two that may not be so easy to put out.

This book was a fast read but had glued to each page. I loved watching these to fall for each other. Roman is a hot alpha who may be grumpy at times but has a heart of gold. Watching him fall for Abby was so fun. I also loved all the other characters in this book. Especially Roman’s twin sister and coworkers. I hope to see some of them get their own stories.
