THE MRS. DEGREE
Sara Ney
Release Date: May 3
I never thought I would get pregnant in college.
When I did, I thought leaving Jack Jennings was doing him a giant favor—he had a bright future ahead of him as a football star—the last thing he needed was me and a baby standing in his way of his dreams.
Honestly? I figured he would eventually forget about me.
I would raise our child in secret and watch Jack on television, and the pain of what I’d done to him would heal.
The last person I expected to see on my brothers doorstep seven years later was Jack; obviously, or I wouldn’t have answered it.
A superstitious athlete, dreams were keeping him awake at night that were preventing him from excelling on the field—dreams he was hoping I could make…disappear.
He looked so good. So much older.
Kind. Handsome.
Turns out, he hadn’t forgotten about me either, and he hadn’t put our past behind him.

I have to say that this book had me excited by the blurb that I had read. But once I did get my hands on it, I was surprised that I couldn’t connect with the story. Penelope and Jack went to college together and dated. He had the opportunity to become a big NFL star and Penelope at the same time found out she was pregnant. She thought she did the honorable thing by completely ignoring him, cutting him off and blocking him. I hate this scenario in every book that authors do this in. It can only set up for a huge blowout once the father finds out. It’s now seven years later and Jack is in a slump. For some reason, he thinks seeing Penelope will help with his latest downward spiral. He is determined to find her and get her out of his mind. Once he does find her, not only does he get the shock of his life but feelings are clearly not done for the two of them. The way these two are brought back together left a lot to be desired. Once they found each other it did pick up a bit but I was still feeling down from the start. The sexy scenes could have been more frequent and a little bit steamier but that’s just my opinion. It was an ok book for me. I am looking forward to reading more in this series and see if things are different in other books.
