I love this author and series. I had high expectations but Clara and Xavier’s story didn’t turn out like I was hoping for. This friends to lovers book needed more explosive and energetic conversations and sexy scenes to stand out for me. Clara and Xavier are the classic best friends since birth type of friends. Through the years they have never crossed the line of friend/lover and because of that their friendship flourished.

Xavier gets into the NFL and leaves their small town. He basically lets the fame, women and fortune get to his head. On a visit between these two friends, that thin line gets crossed and Clara gets her heart broken. They end up barely speaking for almost two years. Xavier realizes what a jerk he has been and on a visit back home tries to win Clara back. I’m not sure why but I could not warm up to Clara. I could not connect with their friendship turned relationship. I wanted to love it but I only just liked it. I was a little bit disappointed that I couldn’t fully immerse myself into their connection.
