My Darling Arrow by Saffron A. Kent ~ Release Blitz w/ 4 Star Review!

Saffron A. Kent
Release Date: September 17

Darling Arrow,

I shouldn’t be writing this.

It’s not as if I’m ever going to send you this letter, and there are a million reasons why.

First of all, I was sent to this reform school as a punishment for a petty, totally inconsequential crime. Not to ogle the principal’s hot son around the campus.

Second of all, you’re a giant jerk. You’re arrogant and moody and so cold. Sometimes I think I shouldn’t even like you.

But strangely your coldness sets me on fire.

The way your athletic body moves on the soccer field, and the way your powerful thighs sprawl across that motorcycle of yours, make me go inappropriately breathless.

But that’s not the worst part.

The worst part is that you, Arrow Carlisle, are not only the principal’s hot son.

You also happen to be the love of my sister’s life.

And I really shouldn’t be thinking about my sister’s boyfriend, or rather fiancé (I overheard a conversation about the ring that I shouldn’t have).

Now if I can only stop writing you these meaningless letters that I’ll never send and you’ll never read…

Never yours,

This forbidden romance had so much going on with it. Sister’s boyfriend – check. Teacher/coach – check. Kind of foster brother – check. Five year age gap – check. Unrequited love…check, check, check! Arrow filled the role of alpha a-hole to a tee. The hot/cold, possessive, unfeeling, broken dudes we love to root for. Salem was an obsessive…obsessive, obsessive girl since she was ten years old. She had given her heart to Arrow at first meeting but he never had eyes for her since she was ten. There lots of crazy angst and twists with drama. These two take you on a ride where I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hop off or put my hands in the air and scream. Definitely entertaining. I loved the tease for her friend’s story.

The Setup by Meghan Quinn ~ Release Blitz w/ 4.25 Star Review & Prologue!

THE SETUP by Meghan Quinn
Release Date: September 10th
Genre: Romantic Comedy

I’ve fallen victim to a heinous act.

An act so vile, so downright dirty, that I’m not sure as a twenty-year-old man I’ll ever recover. Brace yourself, because what I’m about to tell you might have you gasping in secondhand horror.

Ready? Here it goes . . .

I’ve recently become the pawn of a meddling mom.

Yes . . . A MEDDLING MOM–who’s been trying to set me up all summer.

Now, I understand it’s not a crime for a mother to want her child to fall in love, but when she makes it her relentless MISSION, the heinous act should be classified as a misdemeanor at least.

Of course, my mom, the evil matriarch in the devil’s leggings, made her final stab at finding a girl for me days before I went back to college.

And I hate to admit it, but she saved a doozy for last.

A titan in black skinny jeans.

A boss of nonchalance.

And a girl who would not only turn my life upside down, but do it while juggling a soccer ball, looking effortlessly gorgeous around campus, and is one hundred percent against relationships. Of any sort.

Thanks, Mom.

I’ve really liked this baseball series. The guys are all charismatic and I’m pulled into their flirty ways. I ADORE the sassy gals when they put up a fight and become a challenge. Lincoln Castle to me is the perfect guy. He was sweet, kind, great sense of humor…his moms raised him right. Indie Mayhem seems like she has it all and doesn’t need a man in her life. But looks can be deceiving and that sassy girl drove me to the edge at times. Meghan Quinn’s books are full of angst. FULL OF IT. I swear I was going to throw my kindle, stomp up and down on it and locate some wine. But I love her guys. LOVE THEM. I become fully invested in their ups and downs and want to be the shoulder they cry on…their drinking buddy to drown their sorrows. Lincoln and Indie may be one of my favorite couples in this series. Tons of chemistry and goals in common. Their competitions made me smile. Great addition to the Brentwood series.

I’ve fallen victim to a heinous act.

An act so vile, so downright dirty, that I’m not sure . . .

as a son,

as a member of society,

as a twenty-year-old man . . . I will ever recover.

I see the concern in your eyes, your hand wandering up your chest to clutch the collar of your sensible cotton shirt, scared to find out the truth.

Brace yourself against something sturdy, because what I’m about to tell you might just knock you back on your ass in horror.

*Deep breaths, everyone*

I’ve recently become the pawn of a meddling mom.

Yup, you read that right. A MEDDLING mom.

The bane of a son’s existence.

I know what you’re wondering . . . what did she do? Make me pick up my socks during summer break?

*Woe is you*

*Grow up*

You grow up!

Ehhh, that was a little harsh. But before you go and put your judgy face on, you need to know the difference between a nagging mom and a meddling mom.

A nagging mom is one who storms into the living room while you’re trying to watch the series finale of Game of Thrones, complaining about the dishes in the sink you swore you’d take care of once you found out who took the throne.

Nag, nag, nag—part of the daily routine of the person who birthed you, or in this case, one of two moms who adopted me.

But a meddling mom, oh boy. They’re a fresh kind of hell wrapped up in high-waisted leggings and muted tunics. This isn’t some everyday mom who texts you GIFs of squirrels playing with a hula hoop. Nope, meddling moms have an agenda.

An agenda that they believe benefits their children. But it really benefits them . . . and only them.

In this case, my mom’s agenda: get Lincoln to fall in love.

I understand it’s not a crime for a mother to want her child to fall in love, but let me tell you. When she makes it her mission when you’re home from college, it should be classified as a misdemeanor.

That’s right, all freaking summer, my mom has made it her duty to set me up with girl after girl, all of whom she’s met in our hometown Kalamazoo, Michigan. I’d like to say I’m exaggerating that she made a list and set me up with every eligible girl—one by one—but I’m not.

I saw the Excel spreadsheet on her computer.

Girls who were highlighted in red were a no-go.

Girls in green still had a fighting chance.

Girls in yellow? Apparently, I had lukewarm interaction with them, but they showed promise.

Why is she so desperate for me to fall head over heels?

Can you believe she’s been spending time on the Internet, researching relationship statuses of major league baseball players? Well, she has. Too much time. And she said she didn’t want me to end up forty, about to retire, with nothing to say for my life other than that I was able to throw a ball off a mound.

She also wants a girl to fawn over.

When my mothers were adopting, Mom hoped for a girl, but Mama hoped for a boy. Don’t get me wrong, my mom loves me more than anything—hence the meddling and nagging—but she always wanted to do girly things with me, like have tea parties, get our toenails done, shit like that.

Side note: I’ve done the pedicure thing with her, and it’s not that bad.

But she wants a daughter, and apparently, a daughter-in-law is the next best thing.

Which brings me back to my summer of “not love.” I wanted nothing to do with these girls and after my mom’s eighth attempt to set me up—yes, eight—I told her enough was enough. I was done.

And thankfully she listened . . . until the last Saturday before I left for school.

The evil matriarch in the devil’s leggings made her final stab at finding a girl for me.

And I hate to admit it, but she saved a doozy for last.

A fucking titan in black skinny jeans.

A boss of nonchalance.

And a girl who will not only turn my life upside down, but do it while juggling a soccer ball, looking effortlessly gorgeous, and is one hundred percent against relationships. Of any sort.

Thanks, Mom.

*Thumbs up*

Your meddling has made me absolutely miserable.

I really love this author and have loved her past books. I liked this 2nd book, but didn’t love it. It’s Chance Carter’s story. The son of the great Jack Carter and it’s very reminiscent of his parents’ story…for me, too much like it. The names have changed and characters but the premise was pretty much the same.

Chance is the bad boy of baseball and has his focus solely on that. He wants no distractions from anything or anyone. That is until he meets Danika. He is failing, needs a tutor and she is the only choice. She is known to be the best, but he thinks she may be a distraction. He knows his future depends upon passing, and she can 100% help him do that. He agrees and that’s where it all begins.

Danika has no time for baseball players or their egos but agrees to tutor Chance. She is quite the spitfire and does not let him get away with anything. The more time they spend together, she starts to realize Chance is more than baseball and an admiration as well as attraction starts to form. Now this wouldn’t be an issue if she didn’t have a boyfriend and that lends a little drama to this storyline. It was cute to watch these two fight their feelings for each other and work through their issues. But it was very predictable and mirrored his parents’ story. Good but I was hoping for more.

I’m a New York Times and USA Today best selling author of over 18 books! My goal is to write stories that you can get lost in, that will leave a smile on your face and a full heart. If you can forget about the real world while you’re reading and fall in love with my characters, then I’ve done my job. A lot of what I write has real life aspects in it, but that’s what makes the stories so relateable- the fact that they could happen to anyone… and have!

I live in California with my only son, Blake. If you can’t find me sitting behind a computer screen, then there’s a good chance I’m sitting in the bleachers of a baseball stadium watching him play. I love traveling to new places, meeting my readers and living life with the Real Jack Carter. ♡

I know you have a million books to choose from and I am humbled, grateful and thankful each time you choose to read one of mine, or tell someone else to read them. Thank you.

I am a huge fan of Bully Romance. They are one of my very favorite tropes to read. So sometimes when they run the same story line over and over and I think I’ve had enough, I still apparently haven’t because I’ve not skipped one I’ve come across. I went into this book thinking and hoping it would be on the dark side especially with the trigger warning. It wasn’t really all that dark. Some crazy shit happened and the trigger warnings are definitely there for a reason, but it wasn’t as dark and depraved as I was hoping it would be. Don’t get me wrong…it was still really good and I am excited to read the next book.

Allie has had a really rough go of it lately. She lost her mom, boyfriend and best friend all in the same day. Without even having time to grieve or deal with the all the shit that was thrown her way, she is shipped off from the only place she has ever known to live with her bio Dad whom she has never even met. Somehow she connives her super rich asshole dad to let her go to public school. Or maybe she convinced his assistant since her Dad is never around. But off to Sun Valley High she goes.

“I have every intention of blending in with the crowd. Being a nobody here at Sun Valley High.”

Allie’s plan to blend in gets shot to hell right away when she gets stuck with Roman as a tour guide her first day. She quickly learns Roman is the leader of the Devils. Along with Dom and Emilio, they are the three smoking hot bad boys that rule the school. Dom is supposed to be this big tough guy but immediately there’s this crazy chemistry between Allie and him. It’s new and foreign to him so he keeps fucking it all up and being an asshole. But I love how she gives him shit right back. He is used to getting what he wants and was not at all prepared for a girl like Allie. He can’t seem to stay away from her no matter how much he puts out there that they are just having some fun.

“She’s become my obsession and even as I tell myself she’s nothing, no one, I dip my head down and capture her lips with mine, desperate to taste her.”

I loved Allie and my heart broke for her with everything she went through. You would think this poor girl has been through enough and then another absolutely devastating blow comes. This is where one of those trigger warnings comes into play. If rape is a trigger for you either pass on this book or skip the chapters like the author suggested. Although I really didn’t think Roman was a bully…at least not to Allie. I did think he was a huge asshole in the aftermath of what happened, regardless if he knew or not. He partially redeemed himself but still has some making up to do. I also loved some of the secondary characters like Aaron, Emilio and Dom. I really, really loved Dom and am hoping his book is next. There is a scene in the book with him that was absolutely heart breaking and I wanted to be right there on the ground with Allie holding him through it all. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next.

“I shouldn’t be here with him. I shouldn’t let him hold me like this. But I am and no matter how many times I tell myself I need to leave, I stay.”

Okay…back to the review! This book was awesome. I cant wait to see how the Driven world plays out. Especially with these new characters. I wanted more from them as soon as the book ended. She’s sassy and out to prove herself. He’s grumpy and had a rough go in life. That makes for some EXPLOSIVE chemistry. And let me just say this…I may never look at a tool set the same way again. LAWD HAVE MERCY!!!!! SOOOOOOO HOT! This book was amazing and definitely coincides with Driven. You can understand what’s happening in the racing world and become even more enamored with it. First time reading Rebecca and I hope it’s NOT THE LAST!
