Hmmm…not really what I thought it was gonna be. It had good bones but for me it just never took off. Emma, the main character has finally moved away from home and away from her super strict parents. Her brother Steven, who also lives away from home has asked their long time friend Zach (and also Emma’s school girl crush) to keep an eye on her since he lives in the same town.
Zach, who also has been harboring feeling for Emma for years must reach out to Emma and let her know he is around for her but naturally they have a hard time hiding their attraction once they finally see each other. Zach however, feels that he is not good enough for Emma and has a secret that he tries to keep from her (along with some barely touched upon Daddy issues) which hinders their relationship from getting off the ground. I got the gist of his “secret reason” but it was on the lame side. The rest of the book was the push and pull of their relationship which didn’t do much for me. I just couldn’t like either character or their banter.
Emma was like a big baby and was very wishy washy and Zach acted like a girl at times. I was not feeling their connection at all. 😦
