With a death of Vince Horace, the fashion world has lost a great icon. Marco Lent has been by his side for ten years and is ready to take over in his place. As his only heir, he will follow Vince’s vision and carry on his legacy. But Avery McKenna throws a wrench in those plans when she claims to be a mysterious heir that no one knew about. Who is this lady in fashion challenged combat boots? All Marco knows is she needs to go.

“I don’t know what I expected, but I assumed, after that night we spent together there would be a small bit of affection between us, a familiarity that might smooth over our interchanges. Instead, he’s an exposed wire, hot with electricity and one step away from lighting everything on fire.”

I would never have dreamed up a story idea as unique as this one. I really was sucked into this story trying to figure out how this all would work out. Marco seemed really likeable to me even though he played the “bad guy” quite a bit. There was just something endearing about his relationship with Vince and all those years they shared together. I truly got the feeling that his heart was in the right place. Avery was just such a mystery to me as far as her motivation at first. She came across sketchy as hell. A little “too” street smart. But these two together? Swoon!!! I loved the banter and Vince’s wicked sense of humor. There were cute little reminders left around that really made me smile. The story really left me with a warm feeling at the end.

I love Alessandra Torre’s way of inserting those smart comedic moments in her story. I always find myself chuckling at some quirky scene that pops up with a crazy name or playful pillow talk. Definitely makes those books worth reading.

Rules of Engagement Final Cover
Rule No. 1: Do not enter the game unless you intend to finish. Once accepted, there is no escape.
This is a love story, one that comes with rules, expectations, and dark shadows. One where the man who challenges me the most is cloaked in deception. I had no choice but to accept the terms, nowhere to run once the clock started ticking.
Donovan Stone was a man few people dared to cross.
He was dark.
He was dominating.
He was so silent that you had to watch him closely to begin to know what he was thinking.
He was my boss, and the man I should have run from the minute I walked into his corporate office.
Like any bad decision, it took time for me to see the truth about the game I’d entered, for me to understand that it wasn’t the stalker in the shadows I should fear, but the man who pulled the strings.
I had no choice.
At least, that’s the lie I told myself to forgive my foolish actions.
And while running as fast as I could through twisted mazes and deceitful games, I understood that the Rules of Engagement were now my life.

When Mia loses her job she finds herself sucked into a dark reality game willing to do almost anything for money. Her new boss is a mystery and darkly intimidating. Her co-worker Jackson comes across as both accommodating and resentful. Thrown into a hostile new workplace with rules she doesn’t quite understand, Mia tries to navigate this sadistic game while trying to grasp that this was not only a game but her life.

“That’s why I was barely able to stand seeing her smiling at another man, to see her speaking with him so freely while in my vicinity. She should have known her shadow was present, she should have somehow been aware that her true predator lurked. But still, she smiled at him and talked, flirted and even allowed him to touch her.

I couldn’t allow it, so I’d found a way to remind her that I was there, that despite her safety she felt, she was never truly safe.”

4.5 Stars of Whoa! I did not want to put this book down and was “engaged” from rule number one! My mind was running all over the place with this story. Mia is a timid woman that has just lost her job and on the verge of losing her apartment/independence. When you are in a desperate situation, sometimes you are willing to do unexpected things. What a crazy, sadistic game she found herself caught up in. Many times I would catch my breath just like when you watch a horror movie and yell at Mia “don’t do that!!!!” Of course, the dummy doesn’t listen to me. I loved how you never quite knew who to trust and the budding attraction between her and Donovan. Everything seemed “off” about her newfound employment and the creepy incidences that kept happening to her. I felt like I was being thrown off balance just like Mia. And just like that…I was sucked into Mia’s world from the first rule until rule number ten.

I’m never disappointed when I read anything by Lily White. I love how her mind works and thinks of these crazy situations. Definitely makes me think twice about who is watching me or working with me.

Casey Doe didn’t have the easiest start in life. As a baby, she was left at a church addicted to crack cocaine thanks to her mother who abandoned her. She bounced through the foster system until fate brought her in contact with Tyler who whisks her away to a mansion. It’s like a fairytale. Being with Tyler and his brother Torin confuses Casey. She doesn’t know if she should trust this fairytale ending or does Tyler have some ulterior motive?

“She’s different. Beautiful and perfect and mine. But is she? I don’t understand how her mind works. When her blue eyes glitter with emotion, I don’t know what goes on inside her head. I want to cup her cheeks and beg for explanations, but I never do.

Tyler thought I could love her.

I don’t even know what love is.

But I could breathelicktastetouchsmellfeelher.

I could do that all damn day.”

Sigh…this story was just a beautiful breath of fresh air. The relationship between the two brothers is so sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. Tyler not only shows his protectiveness for his brother but for Casey as well. What I love most about this book is how different this story is. We have two brothers that are strongly bonded and rely on one another and the girl who can fit right in…like a puzzle piece…she was made to complete their family. I cried and laughed while reading this book and gasped at the twists. So touching and well worth reading.

If you haven’t given K. Webster a try yet and love a great emotional story, this is one I highly recommend. I had no idea what the book was about when I started it and going in blind is the way to go. Start it now!

Noely has the worst luck with men. Tired of being alone, she decides to give a new blind dating restaurant program a try. When her boss from her morning talk show hears, he decides to make Noely’s venture into a segment on the program. Lovely. Now Noely doesn’t only get to try to find love but she gets to share her dating adventures with all of Malibu. Who will Noel choose? The Suit, the Rebel or the Jock? Or none of the above?

“I haven’t had the best of luck in the dating department. Clearly my radar for good men is terrible. I attract the worst kind of men from the clingers, to the stealers – yes, I’ve had men steal from me before – to the perpetual criers. And now that I’m ‘famous’ in Malibu for my morning talk show, the pool of good men has really narrowed.

All I want is someone amusing who can laugh with me, a man who can also connect with me on an intellectual level. If he happens to be handsome with big hands, impeccable style, and a deep voice that can rock my socks off in bed, then hey, I’ll take it.”

Romantic comedies are my jam and I really loved this creative take on the dating world. Going In Blind matches you up with your perfect compatible partner and the dates Noely ends up going on make me so jealous! Every single time you can see why these guys were chosen for Noely with the chemistry and shared interests popping but at the same time…nothing is as perfect as it seems. Besides the flirty dip into the dating pool, we also have crazy antics of Noely’s BFF/co-host and her brother and sister-in-law keeping her grounded and humble. I laughed so hard as Noely tried to manage her insane friends and family while juggling her dating life. Which incredibly gorgeous man does Noely end up with? You won’t know who wins Noel’s heart until the very end and it’s definitely worth the wait.

I can’t wait to read more about these characters who have won my heart over from the start. You know you can’t make me fall in love with every single suitor without giving me more! Meghan always knows what we need.

I didn’t realize how close I was to the restaurant because I’m ten minutes early. Does that make me seem desperate? No, I chastise myself. It shows that I respect the other person’s time . . . right?

God, dating is the worst. There are so many unspoken rules you have to follow to not look desperate, or to not look like a psycho, or a creep, or horny, or—

“Can I help you, miss?”

Straightening up, I turn toward the hostess stand, which is a beautifully carved piece of wood. Standing behind it is an exotic, tall woman with long black hair, stunning grey eyes, and a massive engagement ring on her hand. Please tell me she got that rock from dating someone in this program.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that happiness for my life is dependent on getting married, but to see a success story in the flesh—particularly for me—would be encouraging.

“Hi, yes, I’m Noely Clark. I have a date at seven tonight with”—I lean forward, feeling silly and whisper—“with WindsorKnot.”

Her smile is kind and reassuring, making me feel a little calmer. “Yes, Miss Clark, I have you here for seven. You’re date hasn’t arrived yet, so can I show you to the bar for a drink while you wait?”

“That would be lovely, thank you.”

With my clutch tucked under my arm, I follow tall, dark, and beautiful to the bar where a very handsome Asian man is standing with a towel draped over his shoulder and a bright grin on his face. He’s wearing a button-up shirt with rolled sleeves, a brown vest covering his chest, which totally channels his inner Justin Timberlake.

“Danny, this is Miss Clark. She has a reservation at seven. Would you be so kind to make her whatever drink she would like?”

“Of course.” He winks at the hostess who presses her warm hand on my arm.

“Enjoy, Miss Clark. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. My name is Veronica, this is Danny, and we will be happy to serve you in any way.” With a parting grin, she moves back to her hostess spot.

Well, she’s nice.

“Miss Clark, please take a seat. What would you like?”

My tight, formfitting red dress makes my hop onto the bar stool a difficult task, but with a pleading prayer to the dress gods and a swift jump, I situate myself, only breaking a minor sweat.

I let out a sigh of relief and place my hands on the bar in front of me, scanning the glitzy bottles of “muscle relaxant.” “Hmm . . . how about a Moscow Mule?”

“Coming right up.” He gets to work and I watch as he magically floats around the bar, pulling the ingredients. “We recently bought new copper mugs, and I’ve been dying to use them.”

“Yeah? Am I the first?”

Winking, he says, “You are.”

If I didn’t know any better, I would say Danny is a bit of a flirt. Either that or he’s super friendly. Or simply made to be a bartender.

From beneath the bar, Danny pulls out a shiny, hammered-copper mug, and I’m instantly taken by the design. So sleek, just like its surroundings. The restaurant, with its white exposed brick, natural wood features, electric colors, and stone tabletops, is sexy, yet inviting. The friendly waitstaff is an absolute bonus. Every table is cornered off in its own spot, never getting too close to the other tables around it, and the mood lighting is on point with dim Edison bulb lights hanging from the ceiling and tabletop candles. I’m feeling the mood.

Despite the welcoming atmosphere, I can’t help but feel nervous, even after my brief exchange with WindsorKnot. There’s something to say about a blind date: the anticipation, the unknown, the knowledge that you’re having dinner with someone to possibly form a romantic relationship. It’s intimidating, but exhilarating all at the same time.

Could this be the last time I ever go on a first date? Will he like me? Will he want to get to know me?

Butterflies float around in my stomach and my cheeks heat as Danny places a napkin in front of me, topped by my drink with a lime slice on the side.

“Here you go, Miss Clark. Please enjoy.”

I smile politely. “Thank you.” When I take a sip, I’m instantly assaulted by the ginger-lime combination. Perfect. “This is fantastic.”

“Good.” Danny winks again and like an old-time bartender, starts drying a tumbler with the towel hanging over his shoulder. Eyeing me for a second, he asks, “A little nervous?”

After taking a sip from my drink, I lick my lips and nod. “Just a little.” I scrunch my nose, squinting ever so slightly. “Is it obvious?”

“Nah, you look pretty chill compared to a lot of blind daters I see come through the door.”

“Oh, I’m sure you see a lot of different reactions to these dates.” I lean forward, the cold wood of the bar cooling my sweaty hands, and whisper, “Any good stories you can tell me?”

Danny chuckles quietly and leans forward himself, taking a look from side to side before answering. “Plenty, but looks like your date just arrived.”

My date just arrived?

The temperature in the room seems to go up a thousand degrees as my body seizes and my shoulders tense. “Oh God, can you see him? Is he hot? What does he look like? Should I turn around? No, I shouldn’t, he would know I was checking him out.” Whispering a little louder, I ask again, “Just tell me, is he cute?”

Danny’s eyes scan over my head and his smile stretches across his face. “That’s for you to judge, not me.” Damn you, Danny.

Oh Christ, I’m not ready.

That’s right, I’m not freaking ready for this.

I get it, I know I said I was ready, that I wanted to do this, that I was all-in, that I wanted to find my soul mate, but now that I’m here, seconds from meeting “the one,” I’m pretty sure I’m going to throw up. Yep, I’m going to throw up. I can feel it rising.

Oh God, I’m going to retch all over him, right on his shoes. I know it. It’s bound to happen.

“Relax, you’re going to have fun,” Danny whispers before he turns to the bottles behind him.

As if the light hairs on my arm can sense it, they stand at attention as the sound of faint footsteps come closer.

Click, click, click. The cement floor leaves zero room for sneaking up on anyone.

Don’t throw up, don’t throw up. Think compliments, think pleasantries, think—

“Hello.”

Smooth molasses drips over my shoulders as the most velvet of voices I’ve ever heard echoes behind me, pulling me away from the death grip on my copper mug and turning me in my seat to face one of the most handsome and polished men I’ve ever seen.

In the upscale town of Cape Bonita, the pretty popular girls are ending up dead. What nasty secrets lurk within the exclusive Lark club that has girls being targeted for murder? As the story unfolds, we discover these cheerleaders and team captains are bullies, boyfriend stealers and competitively cutthroat. Will Penelope Malone figure out who is after the Larks before she becomes the next victim?

“I wish I knew what was going on. How did it happen? Was it an accident? Or do they suspect Gretchen was murdered by someone she knew? Could the killer be someone we know? The thought is terrifying. It’s much easier to put this on a complete stranger who wandered into town and killed her without thought. Cape Bonita is a small, wealthy town along the northern California coast. We don’t do murder.”

Pretty Little Liars and Scream Queens move over because this little mystery is going to give you a run for your money. Penelope tries to run the Larks club as efficiently as possible but even she sees the girls she spends the most time with have transformed into the mean girls of Cape Bonita High School. When her frenemies start turning up dead, Penelope becomes concerned that more of the Larks are being targeted. This was an addictive little mystery with Penelope having no idea who she could really trust. I couldn’t put it down with every new secret that was revealed and led us closer to finding the killer. I couldn’t quite pinpoint who was after these girls until the last minute. It was so fun to just keep guessing!

If you love movies like Scream, you’ll find this a nice quick young adult book that gives you some light-hearted murder. Ok…murder shouldn’t be light-hearted but I found it disturbingly enjoyable.

“That car is still trailing us.”

Glancing in the side mirror, I see that the car is behind us. Cass chooses that moment to take a curve extra fast, making the tires squeal, and I gasp. “You’re scaring me,” I murmur. It feels like my heart just flew into my throat.

“Just wait. What I really want to do is going to scare you even more,” he says cryptically.
“What do you want to do?”

“You’ll have to trust me on this.”

“Okay.” I clamp my lips shut. I shouldn’t automatically agree, right? I’m still having trust issues, even though I’d never say that out loud. This entire day has been confusing. I don’t know who to believe anymore.

“No demanding we back out once we commit,” he says, his gaze never wavering from the road. “That’s a surefire way to get ourselves hurt.”

His words are ominous. Like a warning. “Fine. I’m all in.”

He eases up on the gas pedal, just the slightest bit. The car slows, the vehicle behind us drawing closer. So close I swear it looks like it’s going to eat the back bumper. “I don’t want you to freak out.”

“Oh my God, Cass.” Why is he slowing down? “Just tell me.”

“You have to promise me one thing first.” His gaze meets mine, lingering a moment too long. He should be watching the road, not staring at me. “Say you’ll promise.”

“I promise,” I readily agree, frowning. “But what am I promising?”

He’s staring straight ahead once more, his fingers sliding over the steering wheel, almost like a caress. “You can’t scream.”

What?

“I mean it. No screaming. No yelling. You must remain quiet. I need you to trust me, Pen.” He hesitates, his voice dropping lower. “Do you trust me?”

Do I? He’s already asked me once and I said yes, but the doubt still creeps in. He scares me a little. He also—God, I am so ridiculous thinking this, but—he turns me on. He does. There’s something about him. He has this edge that other boys don’t have. And when he touches me, kisses me…

I’d probably do just about anything he asks me to.

So how can I doubt him when we’ve already gone this far together?

“I won’t scream,” I tell him quietly. “And I won’t yell. I promise.”

“Okay.” He nods once, then hisses out a breath between his teeth. I chance a glance at him, the way his dark hair falls over his forehead, how he’s squinting his eyes. What he’s about to do, what’s about to happen, feels…dangerous. “Here it goes.”

With a flick of his wrist he turns the car’s headlights off. Like, completely off. The road goes dark. I suck in a breath, hold it until I feel like it’s choking me. He hits the gas pedal hard, the SUV roaring to life as he flies down the road. A dangerous, winding road where multiple car crashes occur every year. The windows are down, the wind blows through my hair, blasts against my face, and I close my eyes.

I’m scared, and I can’t make a sound. Not a peep. I hold onto the handle right above the window, gripping it with both hands as Cass takes the twisty road with ease. My gaze is trained on the side mirror and I watch for the car lights behind us.
They’re still there.

The Spring Girls by Anna Todd
A coming of age, new adult romance.
Release Date: January 2nd, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance

the spring girls cover

Four sisters desperately seeking the blueprints to life—the modern-day retelling of Louise May Alcott’s Little Women like only Anna Todd (After, Imagines) could do.

The Spring Girls—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—are a force of nature on the New Orleans military base where they live. As different as they are, with their father on tour in Iraq and their mother hiding something, their fears are very much the same. Struggling to build lives they can be proud of and that will lift them out of their humble station in life, one year will determine all that their futures can become.

The oldest, Meg, will be an officer’s wife and enter military society like so many of the women she admires. If her passion—and her reputation—don’t derail her.

Beth, the workhorse of the family, is afraid to leave the house, is afraid she’ll never figure out who she really is.

Jo just wants out. Wishing she could skip to graduation, she dreams of a life in New York City and a career in journalism where she can impact the world. Nothing can stop her—not even love.

And Amy, the youngest, is watching all her sisters, learning from how they handle themselves. For better or worse.

With plenty of sass, romance, and drama, The Spring Girls revisits Louisa May Alcott’s classic Little Women, and brings its themes of love, war, class, adolescence, and family into the language of the twenty-first century.

With father over in Afghanistan in the military, Jo’s mother is raising her four daughters basically as a single parent struggling financially. These little women are confronted with 2017 teenage dilemmas that differ quite a bit from the original little women in a refreshing new way.

“I tried to explain the dangers and blisses of being a woman, but as they grew older, it got harder and harder. I had to explain to them that sometimes things would come easier to the boys and men around them, often for no good reason. I had to teach them to defend themselves if one of those boys or men tried to harm them. Having four daughters aged twelve to nineteen was not only the hardest job I’d ever worked, but it would be the most important thing I would ever do. My legacy wasn’t going to be that I was an Army wife, it was that I’d raised four reliable, responsible, and capable little women to unleash out into the world.

I felt a heavy sense of duty; if nothing else in my life, I wanted them to carry their strength proudly and their kindness openly.”

I found this novel loosely based up The Little Women to be refreshing, clever and such a relatable coming of age story. Raising four daughters on an Army base while their father in stationed in Iraq and all of the current issues of teens these days seem to play on the sisters day by day. Bullying, slut shaming, jealousy, dating and social anxiety…I just loved how everything wove effortlessly through this book and made the story come to life. The twists seemed to make Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy more real to me and as often as they bickered, you could still feel the closeness of the Spring sisters resonate when they united as a family unit to protect each other. I felt included as an inside member of their family and I truly wonder what is coming next for the girls as they mature and have families of their own.

If you are looking for a nice beach read, look no further. This story of family and siblings really was uplifting with the unity of the sisters and pulling together to help their mother. I really found myself thinking on military families and the sacrifices they go through while their spouse serves our Country.

Meet the Springs

Christmas won’t be Christmas without any presents,”

Jo declared from her spot on the rug.

She sat at the feet of her oldest sister, Meg. Jo’s long brown

hair was unruly, as it always was. She was my strong girl. She

was the only one of my girls who didn’t hog the bathroom. Her

delicate fingers, the black polish on their nails chipped, picked

at the frayed edges of the Afghan rug under her folded legs.

The hand-woven black-and-red textile had once been bright and

beautiful, and I remembered when my husband had sent it to

our house back in Texas from his former post in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

In my head, Denise’s scratchy voice reminds me to use

proper military lingo: my husband’s FOB in Kandahar. The biggest

forward operating base in Afghanistan, she would also necessarily

add. Denise was always on my case. Come to think of

it, she even had comments about the rug when I got it. She said

he could have sent it to the base and paid no fee.

None of that mattered to my girls. From the moment it arrived,

they loved that rug as much as I did. When I ripped open

the package from their dad, who had been living across the

world for the past eight months, the girls—particularly Jo—

were excited to own such a beautiful, culture-filled treasure

from the other side of the world. Meg loved that we now had

a lavish handcrafted object in our simple home. She was my

most materialistic daughter, but I always knew that if I tried

to teach her right, she would use her love of shiny things to do

something magical and worthwhile with her life. Amy was too

young to really care about the rug, and of course Beth knew

it was coming because her daddy knew that she was the only

Spring Girl who could be trusted to keep the secret. Plus, on

a more practical level, since Beth was basically homeschooled,

Frank knew she could watch out for it. Later, he explained to

me that he wanted to mail the package straight home so that

we could be treated with the rug as a surprise on our doorstep,

rather than as a pickup chore on the base. I’m not sure if I told

Denise that she would understand.

Of late, our beautiful rug wasn’t as beautiful anymore.

Dirty shoes and heavy bodies had worn it down, and the colors

blended into a mud brown that I tried my best to clean, but the

color just wouldn’t come back.

We loved it not one bit less.

TRUE, the final book in The Temptation Series by Ella Frank and the highly anticipated wedding between Logan Mitchell and Tate Morrison is available now!

TRUE-FINAL

Synopsis

True – adjective: That which is accurate or exact.

I dare you to try.

I think you’re my truth.

Terrify me.

Marry me.

Marry me.

Marry me…

Four years ago, Logan Mitchell walked into Tate’s life and challenged him to see it differently.

He dared Tate to try a kiss, when normally he wouldn’t have.

He begged him to take a chance, when he probably shouldn’t have.

But most importantly, he asked Tate to trust that he would love him, and he did. From that moment on, Tate realized exactly what his life had been missing—Logan.

Happily-ever-afters come in many different forms. But for Tate Morrison, there’s only one ending he wants. The one where the guy marries the guy and true love conquers all.

Now all he has to do is tell Logan.

Join Logan and Tate as they finally realize what the rest of us knew all along. That they belong together for better or worse—always.

Logan had sworn he would never marry someone after witnessing his mother’s disastrous relationships. But there is something about Tate. From his willing to try to becoming Logan’s everything…Logan has finally came to realize he wants Tate in every way possible. Tate never even considered that Logan would seriously want to go this far. But he knows that Logan is his happily ever after. He just needs to make sure Logan knows it too.

“I wish I could take back what I said to you that night, but I can’t. I can’t ever change it, and I hate that I hurt you. But I learned something that night. I learned that I love you more than I ever knew was possible.”

I can’t say how thrilled I was to get MORE Logan and Tate and this story wasn’t only Logan and Tate’s happily ever after. It was mine too. As soon as Logan and Tate are on the same page…I’m pretty much in heaven and devouring every single word. As per normal, things aren’t always smooth sailing but it appears our boys have definitely matured in their relationship. Now when there’s a bump, making up is a hell of a lot more fun. This story gave me the ending I wished for and I’m very satisfied with my men and how the story flowed. I cannot wait for Robby’s book to get into my hot little hands! What a tease!?! I knew it would be juicy since it’s Robby but this has me jumping up and down.

Logan and Tate’s books were one of my favorite series I ever read and thank you for giving us a little more. I know they will make cameo appearances in future books so I am not saying goodbye to these hotties. I’m just going to say…until I see you again.

LOVE. IT’S FUNNY how one four-letter word can bring on such an onslaught of emotions. Happiness, desire, anger, even fear, Tate Morrison thought, as he sat at the tiny table in the empty bar of the Lynley Winery and tried to calm his erratic heartbeat. It could make those who were the most honest with their emotions run scared, while at the same time bring forth a determination in the most unlikely of people.

That was something he had discovered ten minutes ago back in their suite when Logan had stood before him naked and uttered, “Just tell me how you want me, Tate. I’m yours.”

That was when he’d run.

Tate had practically tripped over his feet in his hurry to be free of the suddenly suffocating confines of that bathroom. And now, as he sat alone replaying Logan’s words, he stared down at the crumpled paper he’d grabbed from his wallet and studied the words in his shaking hands.

His stomach knotted, then flipped over on itself time and time again, and Tate willed himself to breathe. The last thing he needed was to pass out from a panic attack, but that was exactly what was happening. He was panicking. And the reason? The reason was as clear as day. He was the dumbest motherfucker on the planet. Yeah, he was.

Fucking hell. He’d heard that love made people do some stupid shit before, but this… God, what if I can’t fix this? What if Logan doesn’t want me like that anymore? The thought made him want to be sick. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to stop the room from spinning, but all that did was bring to mind Logan back in the bathroom, beautiful as always, looking at Tate for some kind of indication of what was running through his head. And what had Tate given him? Nothing. He’d just fled.

Damn it.

Tate shoved the piece of paper into his pocket, along with the pen he’d grabbed from the side table back in their suite, no longer able to look at it. What had he done to them? How had he let fear of the unknown possibly ruin this? And as the memories flooded him again…

I dare you to try.

I think you’re my truth.

Terrify me.

Marry me.

…he was more than aware that it was that one, the last one, that didn’t have the right ending. He’d really messed this up, but he could make it right and wanted to, more than he wanted his next breath.

He placed his head in his hands and shut his eyes, trying to gather some semblance of control so he could go back, find Logan, and do the one thing he realized he should’ve done all along. It wasn’t until he heard the sound of padded feet on the hardwood floor that he looked up to see that he didn’t need to go and find Logan, because he had tracked Tate down instead.

With the fire flickering behind him, the sharp angles of Logan’s cheeks and jaw only enhanced a face Tate loved more than he thought possible, and when Logan pulled out the chair opposite him and reached across the table to take his hands, Tate couldn’t believe it had taken his brain this long to catch up and get to where it now firmly was.

“Hey,” Logan said, his eyes roaming over Tate’s face, no doubt for signs, clues as to why he’d run away.

“Hey,” Tate replied, and then lowered his gaze to their hands, marveling over the strength he found there when they were joined.

Exactly…together, not apart. Always and forever, together.

“What are you doing out here?” Logan asked, and Tate swallowed as he felt Logan tighten his grip.

“I, uhh…”

“Tate?” Logan said before Tate could give any kind of response. “What are you doing out here?”

Tate withdrew his hand and ran it through his hair, and as Logan continued to watch him, he felt his nerves kick in. “Back there in the bathroom…” he started, and then stopped. As he thought over his words, Tate wondered if there was even a way to explain how badly he’d screwed this all up, but knew the only way he’d ever know was to try. “I had a thought. It was more of a moment, I guess. A flash of us. Of all we are and will be and— Shit, I sound crazy, don’t I?”

Logan’s eyes narrowed, but he shook his head. “You don’t sound crazy. But you are freaking me out a little. Were the things you were thinking good things, at least?”

Tate frowned and then shot Logan an apologetic look. The last thing Tate wanted was to worry him more—it was the exact opposite. “Yeah, of course. I should’ve probably started with that. Everything about you was good. Perfect, really, but me…”

“What about you? You’re pretty fucking perfect from where I’m sitting. And back there in that bathroom, trust me, you looked better than any of those naked statues on the wall.”

Tate tried for a smile but knew he didn’t quite pull it off when Logan asked, “What is it, Tate? Come on; you know you can tell me anything.”

Okay, this is it, Tate thought, as he swallowed and then shifted in his seat, glancing over at the fire for a moment to gather his nerve. Then he turned back to Logan and asked, “Am I too late?”

At Logan’s confused expression, Tate knew he didn’t understand what he was asking. So he reached into his pocket where he’d shoved the piece of paper, and then put it on the table. He smoothed his hand over it, lovingly tracing his fingers over the name he now wanted as his own, and then pushed it over in front of Logan.

As Logan stared down at it, Tate watched him read over the words on the paper, waiting for a reaction, and when Logan looked up, Tate asked again, “Am I too late?”

Logan blinked several times, and Tate held his breath, wondering if he was too late. But then something miraculous happened: Logan shook his head.

The blood rushing around Tate’s head made his ears ring as he tried to comprehend what Logan was telling him, but he still hadn’t said a word, so Tate pulled the pen from his pocket and leaned over to circle the name he hadn’t been able to stop looking at ever since he’d found the piece of paper.

As Logan looked down again, Tate saw a huge grin split his lips. “So what do you think? Can the world handle two Mr. Mitchells?”
