Ruthless Sinner by Erika Wilde ~ Blog Tour w/ 4.5 Star Review & Excerpt!

She’ll do anything to destroy his family.

Ruthless Sinner, an all-new, sizzling hot mafia romance from New York Times bestselling author Erika Wilde, is out now!

Dark, dangerous mafia soldiers like Marco Russo were made men, but luckily for me, they weren’t made for marriage. Which made my job of seducing him so much easier.

It was supposed to be a simple undercover operation. One that required me to work in a strip club in order to get close to Marco and do whatever it took to coax him to spill his family’s secrets. Our attraction was undeniable, so establishing a relationship with him was the easy part. Enticing him to share sensitive information took far more finesse.

But during all those steamy nights we shared I learned enough to take down his family. I also made the stupid mistake of falling for the enemy and now I was going to have to make a choice.

My head or my heart.

My job or my love.

My end or my beginning.

Because once Marco realized who I was and how I’d deceived him, he’d have a choice to make, as well.

To let me live . . . or to kill me to prove his loyalty to his family.

This book kept me on my freaking toes at all times! This is the second book in the series and focuses on Marco and Kennedy (AKA Jewel). Marco is a mafia playboy who never goes back for seconds. He is a whirlwind in bed and leaves women wanting more. Most of the women work at the local mafia strip club. He sets his sights on Jewel, a dancer that he’s been watching for weeks. He becomes slightly obsessed with her and determined to get her in his bed at all costs.

Jewel is Kennedy…an undercover FBI agent that has been sent into this evil den of lust as a stripper and told to “do whatever it takes” to get into his close circle. Kennedy does exactly that! Normally she would never fall into a mark’s beds but there is something about Marco. Like a moth drawn to a flame. I don’t want to give up too much about their steamy interludes but let’s just say that not everything about the mafia is what it seems. It’s up to Marco and Kennedy to take the information they have found and decide what to do with it. Both of their lives depend on it. This was a great book. A quick read with some super steamy scenes. The two characters’ attraction was smoking and you could feel their chemistry. Definitely recommend!

Keep reading for a look inside Ruthless Sinner!

Marco was waiting when I stepped back out into the alley after work, only this time he was leaning against his motorcycle.

Oh, my God. I knew he had one but we’d never ridden it together. My legs trembled, my body already getting hot at the thought of that machine between my thighs, molded to Marco’s back as we rode…

“Nice ride,” I said, walking over and running a hand along the leather seat. “Where are we going?”

“Just a little place I know,” Marco said, and tossed me a helmet.

I put it on, and didn’t bother asking if he was going to wear one, because clearly he wasn’t. I shook my head. “Y’know, I can see why your dad worries about you.”

Marco just smirked, swung his leg over the seat, and straddled the bike. “Hop on.”

“I hope you’re not trying to impress me,” I warned him as I slid behind him and wrapped my arms around his waist, “because the opportunity to do that passed about a month ago.”

That was a total lie. I was definitely impressed by the motorcycle and I was prepared to be impressed by whatever else he had planned, but there was no way I was going to let him know that. I didn’t want him to think I was easy. Even though it had already been a month and I could probably let myself relax by this point.

Still, the thrum of arousal and anticipation that shot through me as he hit the throttle was unreal. I held on tightly and pressed my face to the back of his shoulder as we took off, out of the alley, onto the deserted late-night street.

Wherever he was taking me, I knew I’d like it. For all his fancy toys, Marco didn’t like to make a big deal of things. He wasn’t about taking me out to a fancy restaurant. Instead he took me to his favorite random ice cream shop. I liked that. I was ready for the low-key thing he had planned.

And in the meantime, I really loved pressing myself against him as we rode this motorcycle. I could feel his back muscles shifting and flexing underneath me, the firm feel of his abs against my hands as I kept my arms wrapped around him. When I rested my cheek against his back, his body sheltered me from the wind, so I could just watch the flurries of blurred light as we sped past buildings and out of the city.

At last we stopped at a hilly park that was high up, and had a great view of the bay. Marco stopped the motorcycle and got off, offering me his hand.

I looked around. “Why are we here?”

Marco rubbed at the back of his neck, like he was nervous. Big bad Marco Russo, nervous? The idea was endearing.

“This is one of the areas my family bought outside of the city,” he explained. “One of the ways we maintain our strength in the mafia and the legitimate business world is focusing on charity efforts. It gives us a good reputation with people, helps us with our public image. Vincent’s new wife, she’ll pick her own charities she wants to work with, where her focus is, but my mom was all about community outreach and the environment so she built a lot of parks. Like this one.”

He gestured towards a sign I hadn’t noticed before. It dubbed the place Marco’s Park and below it had a few lines explaining who built the park and in what year.

I looked at him in surprise. “This one’s yours?”

“Yeah, we all have one. Mom liked to name them after people in her life. And I think she knew that we all needed a place to go and breathe. I don’t know if Vincent goes to his park a lot, but I like to come here when I need to get out of the city and just chill.”

“But you love the city.” New York City was vibrant, pulsing with life, and so was Marco.

“Most of the time.” Marco leaned back against his motorcycle and looked out over the city, its lights gleaming like so many fireflies. “But what I do for the family… I see the dirty side of the city. The grime, the blood, the ugly. Sometimes I gotta get out and take a few deep breaths away from it all.”

“I understand,” I said softly. Working in the FBI wasn’t the glamorous catching of bad guys like you saw on television. A lot of the time I didn’t know if we were really the good guys or if there were only shades of gray. “Thank you for bringing me here.”

Marco gave me a small, soft smile, and it tugged at my heart.

“Who knew the bad boy with a motorcycle had such a soft side?” I added, trying to ignore that feeling in my chest and hoping to get myself back onto safer emotional ground.

“Hey, I’ve got layers,” Marco protested with a smirk. “And you can’t say you don’t like the motorcycle. I saw your face light up when you saw it.”

“Well,” I admitted, feeling there was no harm in telling him, “I’ve always had a bit of a thing for bad boys.”

“Congratulations then, you hit the jackpot.” He winked at me.

This is a story about a troubled tattoo artist who self sabotages himself at every turn and a young juvenile whose life is less than stellar. Conor has had a rough life as a juvenile in the system. Choices made backfired and his life is going nowhere. A twist of fate brings his dark secrets to his doorstep by Aurnia. Maybe that is why he is drawn to Aurnia so much. Her drug addict father has her living in a crack trailer that all sort of low lives are in and out of daily. She never feels safe and has lived the life of an adult at seventeen. The things she has had to endure at a very young age has jaded her and made her grow up very quickly. You can feel her hopelessness at times and it broke my heart.

When these two collide there are instant fireworks. Conor fights his attraction for Aurnia not just because of her age but for history repeating itself. But Aurnia has her sites set on him and she won’t give up. Their banter had me laughing out loud more then once and there were times my heart was ripped out for Aurnia. This author gave me all the feels for these characters and that is what kept me hooked from the first page until the last. Loved watching this love story unfold!

The Mrs. Degree by Sara Ney ~ Release Blitz

From USA TODAY Bestselling Author Sara Ney comes a new series about strong, single girls falling in love: accidentally.

THE MRS. DEGREE
Sara Ney
Release Date: May 3

I never thought I would get pregnant in college.

When I did, I thought leaving Jack Jennings was doing him a giant favor—he had a bright future ahead of him as a football star—the last thing he needed was me and a baby standing in his way of his dreams.

Honestly? I figured he would eventually forget about me.

I would raise our child in secret and watch Jack on television, and the pain of what I’d done to him would heal.

The last person I expected to see on my brothers doorstep seven years later was Jack; obviously, or I wouldn’t have answered it.

A superstitious athlete, dreams were keeping him awake at night that were preventing him from excelling on the field—dreams he was hoping I could make…disappear.

He looked so good. So much older.

Kind. Handsome.

Turns out, he hadn’t forgotten about me either, and he hadn’t put our past behind him.

I have to say that this book had me excited by the blurb that I had read. But once I did get my hands on it, I was surprised that I couldn’t connect with the story. Penelope and Jack went to college together and dated. He had the opportunity to become a big NFL star and Penelope at the same time found out she was pregnant. She thought she did the honorable thing by completely ignoring him, cutting him off and blocking him. I hate this scenario in every book that authors do this in. It can only set up for a huge blowout once the father finds out. It’s now seven years later and Jack is in a slump. For some reason, he thinks seeing Penelope will help with his latest downward spiral. He is determined to find her and get her out of his mind. Once he does find her, not only does he get the shock of his life but feelings are clearly not done for the two of them. The way these two are brought back together left a lot to be desired. Once they found each other it did pick up a bit but I was still feeling down from the start. The sexy scenes could have been more frequent and a little bit steamier but that’s just my opinion. It was an ok book for me. I am looking forward to reading more in this series and see if things are different in other books.

I was really excited to read this book when I saw the blurb. This book is part of a series and this one focused on Elsa and Sebastian. Elsa is a single mother whose ex is in a position of power. He holds their daughter’s custody over her head. I was not a fan of hers at all. Her character was all over the place and seemed unstable. Sebastian is part of a top mob family. I have read enough Mafia/Mob type books and I mean I watched Sopranos. This story seemed to me a watered down version but with a cute spin. Sort of like the bubble gum mafia. The things that were happening for me were not believable. The book flew by at a rapid pace, and I couldn’t sense any true development of the characters. The hero and heroine were set up in the beginning as being one way and it didn’t carry through. I skimmed a lot towards the end when I stopped connecting with the story. I hope the book is much better for you.

Excerpt

He holds out one of the tulip shaped glasses, and I snatch it from him. Before he’s raised his own glass, I’ve tossed mine back. The alcohol leaves a trail of heat in its wake. It hits my stomach, and a ball of heat radiates out from the point of contact. I cough as my eyes water. “Jesus, what is that? Paint remover?” I glance up through my spiky eyelashes to find him watching me with something like disdain.

“What?” I sputter. “Never seen a grown woman act like a wuss?”

He merely tosses his own drink back—the action is so elegant I want to lean in and follow his every move, with my tongue—then places it on the table with a controlled snap. The kind that manages to be authoritative and demanding. Bloody hell, how can one man convey all of that with such a small gesture?

Out of the corner of my eye, I spot the bartender hurrying to refill his drink.

Seb takes the glass from me, and his fingertips brush mine. A current of electricity shoots out from the point of contact. Oh, shit. Not good, not good. Don’t want to have this kind of a reaction to this man.

“I’m not going to sleep with you. Even if you were the last man on earth,” I blurt out.

A touch of humor sparks in his eyes.

“We’ll see.” He tilts his head. “You’re a little thing, aren’t you?” He frowns, as if only now noticing my lack of height. Well, I’m five-feet-four-inches, which is pretty decent, or so I’d thought until I stood before this monster of a man.

          “You’re a big, mean alphahole, aren’t you?” I scoff.

His jaw drops, but he recovers quickly; I’ll give him that much credit. “That’s not a word in the English language,” he says in a tone that could have chilled my grappa if I were still holding it in my hand, which I’m not. More’s the pity. I would have dumped it on him, just for the satisfaction of taking him by surprise again.

“It is now,” I inform him, “and by the way, I may be small, but I pack a punch.”

“Somehow I don’t doubt that.” He lowers his head until we share breath, then murmurs, “But whatever it is you’re offering, I’m not interested.”

It’s my turn to gape. “What the—?” I sputter. “I’m not offering you anything. I’m not sure what makes you think—”

He chuckles, the sound so deep, it seems to reach all the way to my toes.

“Jerk,” I snarl. “Stop laughing at me. I don’t know who you think you are, but—”

“I have to admit, your response was most satisfying.” He smirks. And damn it, that shouldn’t be so hot. And I shouldn’t still be staring at that beautiful face of his. But honestly, while I’ve only heard of men being referred to as fallen angels before, now I get where the phrase comes from. If that description fits anyone, it’s this larger-than-life guy who’s looking at me like he’s the most superior thing ever to have walked this planet.

“Only because you caught me by surprise.” I poke my finger in his chest. “I’ll have you know, normally, I am far cooler and more collected.”

“No doubt, it’s my presence that unnerves you,” he drawls.           “It’s your presence that makes me want to leave this bar,” I retort.

“No one’s stopping you.” He raises his hand in a dismissive gesture, much like the one I used on him earlier. “In fact, I’ll give you a drink to go.” He jerks his chin at the bartender.

For the second time in a few minutes, I gape at him.

“And I thought Italian men were such charmers.”

“Only with the right kind of women,” he shoots back.

“Which I am not—when it comes to you— thank god.” I pretend to wipe my forehead. “I wouldn’t be interested in you if you were the last man on this planet.”

He yawns. “I believe you already mentioned that. Are you done with your childish tantrum?”

I resist the urge to stamp my foot; that would only confirm his misogynistic remark, and I am not going to validate his misplaced perception.

“I’ll have a beer,” I say in a casual voice.

“Eh?” A line appears between his eyebrows, marring the expanse of that gorgeous forehead.

“A beer.” I stab my thumb over my shoulder. “Tell him I want a beer to go.”

“Instead of grappa?” He wrinkles his nose like I’ve suddenly developed a bad smell.

Not that I didn’t like the taste of it, but there’s a reason I’m asking for beer. “In fact, make it a pint. You know us Brits; we never settle for anything less.”

He shoots me a look filled with disgust.

“There, there, it can’t be all that bad.” I pat his chest. The heat of his body instantly soaks through his shirt to bleed into my skin. I shiver. To say the man is ripped is an understatement. I mean, I have touched walls which were less firm. Okay, maybe a tad exaggerated on my part, or not. I swear, the man must spend all of his spare time working out.

He glances down at where my hand seems to have developed a relationship with the front of his shirt.

“Oops, sorry.” Not. I lower my hand to my side.

“Your hair…” He points to where I have piled my hair on my head. Half of it has come undone, and strands now hang about my face. The curse of having thick hair. Not to mention, the humidity in this establishment pretty much means my hair is frizzy and escaping from its messy bun.

“What of my hair?” I scowl.

“I’ve seen bird’s nests that are tidier.”

“Such sweet compliments. Keep that up, and I’ll be sure you have a crush on me.”

          He smirks.

          I glower up at him.

The skin around his eyes creases. Then he reaches over and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. Tendrils of loathing—it has to be loathing—shiver out from where his fingertips brushed my earlobe.

Someone clears their throat. That’s when I realize Theresa is standing beside us.

This is Aurora’s story who we’ve met in previous books. She is poor and working and living at a diner. One night she has an affair with one of the most gorgeous men she has ever seen. However, neither of them know each others last names or how to contact each other. Fast forward six years and Aurora has found out that she is part of a family that is filthy rich. She has made quite a nice life for her and her daughter. Yes…daughter. That one amazing night with the handsome stranger left her with a surprise nine months later. There was no way to track him down to tell him because they never exchanged numbers or last names! These two have their paths cross again and what a shock it is to both of them once they find out each other’s identities. Nick is also from a very affluent family and has close ties with the family Aurora now belongs to. Not only that but the shock when Nick finds out he has a child! This was a sweet, heartfelt story about second chance love. It could have used few more steamy scenes. It was on the rated PG-13 side for me and a little short, but all in all, it was a cute book.
