I have to be honest…I am still on the fence about this book. It was very dark at times and some of the scenes made me cringe. I think the age of the characters having the experiences they did made me extremely uncomfortable. August gets accused of ratting out Blake, and he is sent to jail for something she witnessed. Blake did not have a good time in jail. When he is released, he is out to make August’s life a living hell and a living hell is exactly what he makes it. I truly hated him most of the time. But every now and then I saw a flash of good and tried to justify why he did the things he did. He does some truly unforgivable things to an innocent girl.

August takes all he dishes out and is broken by Blake. In a twisted way, she starts to have feelings for him. Blake never thought he would catch actual feelings for her as well. It was a very twisted love/hate story watching these two come to terms with each other and the things they do. If you like dark, sadistic, twisted love/hate stories, then I suggest taking a chance on this one. I just wished the characters’ ages didn’t bother me so much.

I simply adored this book from the very first page. Beck finds out that his grandmother’s cancer is back. She has decided to forgo treatment and live out her last days fulfilling things on her bucket list. She is doing so with a companion that she met in her building, and each thing they do gets more dangerous. Beck decides he is going to meet up with them and stop his gram from doing these ridiculous things and get treatment. This is where he has a hilarious chance encounter with his gram’s travel companion Nora. Nora is not what he expected and their chemistry is off the charts. After this hilarious encounter Beck decides to partake in this journey with them and that’s where the fun starts.

The witty banter and sexual chemistry between Nora and Beck are heart stopping. Gram is a firecracker and the things that come out of her mouth had me laughing out loud. And just when things seem to being going great BAM! Major, major plot twist and a secret revealed that shocked me to my core and had me shedding some tears. Something Unexpected was definitely the perfect name for this book. UGH! Absolutely gutted me. I highly recommend this book. It’s a great beach read and you will run the whole field of emotions with this one. Kudos to the author!

PHEW! In this second book, Santos and Madelena’s story started where the first book left off and it did not disappoint! While many of the twists and turns in the first book were explained, it was certainly a shock when you find out the actual truth. There was one really big twist I did not see coming, and I wasn’t sure if these two would make it. I have to say that this 2nd book was just as suspenseful as the first and such a page turner. And the sexy scenes were scorching! I definitely recommend this book and this series.

Book one in this duet is about Madelena and Santos. I really don’t want to give too many spoilers, but I freakin’ loved this book! They entered into an arranged marriage, agreed upon when Madelena was fifteen, and Santos sealed the deal in blood. Madelena knows this is her fate and over the next few years has no more than a few meetings with Santos. Over the next five years, Santo’s keeps a watchful eye over Madelena and ensures she is safe. Madelena and Santos’ relationship spans several years. With how the story unfolds, I consider their intimacy a bit of a slow-burn development. It’s easy to see the burning chemistry that Madelena and Santos have. You can see that even though neither say it, love is definitely growing between them. Santos and Madelena deliver a hate/love filled story that kept me on the edge until last pages…which ended in the mother of all cliffhangers! There’s a sweet balance between the mafia and romantic elements that makes this a solid dark mafia romance read. All in all, it’s a highly promising first half of the duet filled with intrigue, uncertainty, and seduction. Can not wait for the 2nd half to come out!

What a hot little book this was! Phew! Noah owns Blake’s Security firm. Lucia is a fashion assistant and sister of Noah’s best friend who died six years ago. Noah took it upon himself to keep her and her grandmother safe. There is only one problem. Noah has always been attracted to Lucia and Lucia has always been in love with Noah. Lucia is still trying to investigate her brother’s murder and has opened up the proverbial “Pandora’s Box” putting her directly in the line of fire and her name on a hit list.

Now Noah and his team need to step things up and keep her safe. Not only are there secrets surrounding Lucia’s brothers murder…there are secrets about Noah’s team and somehow, they are connected. Noah and Lucia’s attraction and chemistry heats up to new levels now that they are spending so much time together. That makes for some super hot and steamy scenes. I have to be honest…I was not a fan of Lucia which made it hard for me to totally get into their relationship. Watching the secrets unfold one by one was fun to read, and I loved the supporting characters. This book definitely had it all – hot scenes, angst, intrigue, mystery and held my interest to the very end! I look forward to reading the next in the series.
