In the first book, everything took place when these characters were young. I totally felt their connection, angst and attraction to each other. We all know about the mystery pen pal Naomi has and struggled to figure out who he was and what his deal was. I loved the storyline. I loved the mystery with it all. I loved that even though things started with them under certain pretenses, Sebastian really does care about her. I loved it all.

This second book takes place seven years later. After the whole kidnapping thing. They are adults. Sebastian has been miserable all these years wondering what happened to her and why she disappeared the way she did. Naomi has been living in her own hell with Akiraโ€ฆher pen pal. While we do see what has transpired over the past seven years and questions we had get answered, I was not fond of these characters at this age. Call me crazy, but I actually liked the storyline when they were at a younger age. When I read this type of book it’s very rare that there is such a huge time jump. The first book left off in a huge cliffy after the kidnapping. This one fast forwarded seven years with another cliffy that slowly gets told. It definitely was not what I was expecting and maybe for that reason, I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first. Just my opinion. It was good and there are some stronger sexy scenes than the first but the characters felt different to me. More than once I was scratching my head wondering about certain things that were happening. I guess for me I got used to these characters at one age and was not prepared to meet them seven years later. And working backwards to fill in the gap.

ABOUT RINA KENT

Rina Kent is an international bestselling author of everything enemies to lovers romance.

Darkness is her playground, suspense is her best friend, and twists are her brainโ€™s food. However, she likes to think sheโ€™s a romantic at heart in some way, so donโ€™t kill her hopes just yet.

Her heroes are anti-heroes and villains because she was always the weirdo who fell in love with the guys no one roots for. Her books are sprinkled with a touch of mystery, a healthy dose of angst, a pinch of violence, and lots of intense passion.

Rina spends her private days in a peaceful town in North Africa daydreaming about the next plot idea or laughing like an evil mastermind when those ideas come together.
