If I abide by my parent’s wishes to marry the one they’ve chosen, I’ll lose Paisley forever. But if I go against my parents, I’m failing my deceased best friend all over again.

The second book in this hockey series is Maksim’s book. Maksim is the team’s enforcer and enforce he does. He lets his Russian temper take over and is a menace on the ice protecting his guys. This is great until he gets carried away with fights and starts to spend more time in the penalty box than on the ice. His reputation starts to take a hit…literally.

Paisley is a therapist and best friends with the team’s owner. She is hired to have a some sessions with a few of the players. She is not prepared, however, for one of those players to be Maksim. These two had a sordid kiss a while ago…one that neither have forgotten. It was hilarious to watch these two have to be professional while their attraction boiled over.

Paisley has her walls up for both professional and personal reasons. I found this frustrating at times. I wanted to scream…oh, just screw him already…more than once! She does work with him on why he can’t control his anger and is met with distractions left and right. Clearly, he is not telling her the truth and she is determined to find out what he is hiding. Until Paisley walks into his house one day and finds a gorgeous half naked girl there. Lines definitely get crossed and these two keep everything personal so secret that things can only blow up.

This was a quick, funny story and I really liked these two characters. I wasn’t a fan of how wishy-washy Paisley was but Maksim’s character made up for most of that. I did love how as tough as he seems on the outside, he is truly a big teddy bear on the inside. I wish there were more steamy scenes and the ones in this story could have been a little sexier for my taste.
